So a lady called me a Pimp today....

Since for many people (i.e. the general public) wearing a vintage hat or vintage style hat (especially hats with wide brims) is strange for them I suppose it will for them require comment or if none is made they will think a person wearing such a thing means the wearer is a performer in costume...

So a lady called me a Pimp today....

Maybe we should retitle this as the "insult or stupid comment while I was wearing my hat" thread.

So a lady called me a Pimp today....

Sure does sound like it might have been intended as an insult. How old would you say she was? That might shed some light.

So a lady called me a Pimp today....

Or "chimney sweep" I've seen sweeps in my area wearing beat up old ones just for that purpose--traditional work uniform. Thanks! We're on a roll!

So a lady called me a Pimp today....

Great points Tony! Always best to let the situation determine the response and be sure before responding. My comments were somewhat with tongue-in-cheek. Most people that make such comments about our hats are probably either being stupid or trying to be a comedian rather than trying to...

    Boater faction!

Wonder where that giant boater ended up....obviously not straw. Maybe someone on here will find it. I assume that picture is from the US. Any idea where it was taken? Cute flappers. Amusing to think that when girls first started appearing in public in the US looking like that it was a...

Good point! Maybe she was just looking for work.....

So a lady called me a Pimp today....

Pretty rude of her for sure! I have a pretty thick skin myself and just don't give a sh*t about what people say or do regarding whatever hat I'm wearing if it is negative or stupid....Hey if people can have spike-colored hair, tats and body piercings all over the place and not get a second look...

    HATS WITH HISTORY

Anyone recall what the Arness Bailey went for? BTW, a while back watching one of the old Black & White episodes of the Marshal Dillon show (half hour Gunsmoke) he takes off this same styled hat and sets it on the saloon table upside down. The 50's style Stetson logo is clearly visible on the...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I would say PayPal provides some basic protections and Ebay provides some additional protections but I'd have to read their contracts to know all the differences for sure. Of course those don't always work to your favor as the incidents we've heard of on here attest to.

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

You're probably right...just hearing of bad experiences or having them oneself makes one paranoid....nobody wants to get the shaft. I haven't respond to them yet so maybe I'll flip a coin and give it a shot.

Not that this is an election but I guess I have two votes for doing it and one no don't do it vote.

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Now I understand the sale fee as it does cost ebay many millions or more for the network, server and database infrastructure to run their site though I won't disagree it is probably too high. What's with the shipping cost? A way to get yet more revenue instead of raising listing/sale fees or...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Alan, those are probably all valid points. Now I haven't tried to sell anything on ebay yet (but that is high on my todo list) but I'm surprised if there are additional fees for a listing that literally ended a minute before I made the offer, but then again maybe I shouldn't be surprised given...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Agreed. I had already reached that conclusion before even posting. If nothing else they have left me with evidence to give to ebay's fraud alert department should I decide to do so.

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Curious people on ebay. The seller who had an auction that closed with no bids accepted my post auction offer but refuses to do it as BIN through ebay and instead wants to do it as a private transaction only with me paying via paypal. Now the seller has a long history with only one negative...

    HATS WITH HISTORY

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

For you guys that have sold stuff on ebay: is there an easy way for a seller to sell an item thru ebay that was listed for an auction and in which the auction closed with zero bids? That is if a buyer makes an offer to turn it into a BIN after it has closed with no bids can the seller just...
