    Post New Hats Here!

Failsworth 'Rodney' Probably late 60's maybe early 70's from the label. Near new condition so despite not needing yet another brown stingy brim... Fairly deep pinch and square sides for an English Trilby. Failsworth are still going, and produce decent caps, but their...

Do any of you guys follow any type of hat etiquette?

Historically, men generally wore hats in bars (although in the UK there tended to be a distinction between the Public Bar and The Lounge Bar (and presumably the Snug)). In France men wore hats in bars - see Degas's bar scenes, including those of Absinthe drinkers.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

I've been too busy with work to keep up with this thread the last few days, but there's been some great hats worn from a quick flick through. I shall go back for a proper look this weekend. Today was a new Christy's linen cap:

    THE DERBYNATOR SOCIETY !!!!!!

That's fun Alan. I was tempted by one of the Christys' Panama bowlers but they only sell them in medium sizes.

Do any of you guys follow any type of hat etiquette?

Societal norms change. Often this is a good thing - who would argue against universal suffrage for example? I'm all for maintaining consideration for others, and try to be considerate of others. If I enter another man's place of worship where it is the norm to remove a hat I will happily do...

    Hat size charts

Typically UK sizes are a size smaller than US sizes for the same circumference e.g. a 60cm hat is a 7 3/8 UK and a 7 1/2 US but there's an awful lot of variation between one companies sizing and another. I think some companies allow for a degree of shrinkage when worn, and others don't. German...

Great silverbelly RBH. Thanks for your thoughts on sizing Blackthorn. As someone who takes a generous 60 or a small 61 I'm waiting with bated breath.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Thanks for all the kind comments on the boater. Panama weather today. A Failsworth Cuenca, that I bought a couple of years ago a size too small. Stretching and reshaping it from a drop brim has made it perfectly wearable: Faversham Guildhall and town pump.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Mike - great photos of you, the ladies and the locale. David - looking very sharp as usual. Andy - looks good. The taper doesn't bother me, but then I'm European, and it's what I'm used to. Have you tried a full length centre dent like a homburg - that might lessen the visual taper. Perry -...
