Thanks all for the encouragement. I'm not really a big fan of a "50s look" myself...trying to stay more in the late '40s, but find a lot of early '50s that do the trick.
As for the photo backdrops...my house is a good-sized stone ranch built in 1953. Built by a rather prominent guy in the...
I watched Kirk Douglas on "Ace In The Hole" (1951) the other night. In an opening scene, Douglas mocked his soon-to-be boss for wearing both suspenders & a belt. Douglas' character appeared in the next scene (and throughout the rest of the film) wearing the same.
My ties have just been picked up here & there over the last 15-20 years. I've found that wearing cool ties around often gets you unsolicited tie "donations". Often hideous, but occasionally remarkable.
Pickup from Joe the Tailor last night:
1 194s suit coat: pocket restitched by hand.
1 1940s suit pants: seam below right front pocket restitched.
1 1940 gabardine shirt: 1 button moved from wrist to front; two new buttons at wrists; pressed.
2 1940s sportcoats pressed.
Total $20.00
Now I don't know what I'd wear, being the fact that I am most comfortable in vintage and don't own a modern suit or sport coat. I do believe I could manage to tone down a "vintage look", however.
1950s Harmony H-62
This is my setup when I wanna sound like T-Bone Walker of Pee Wee Crayton. 1950s Harmony H-62 (bought after I snapped the neck on an identical black one) & Victoria Pro 1 x 15" amp.
