I certainly don't mind the bold look. I can even deal with the width. It's the '70s polyester that makes me run. Mind you, I did wear '70s ties when forced to wear a tie in high school, but only as an attempt at humor.
Great picture...I've been on the lookout for something similar for a long time.
As for the tie: To be honest, the width & (more importantly) the fabric of 1970s ties is a deal breaker for me. I would consider it to be an easy fix as great ties are so readily available.
GBR...you sound quite informed & may well be correct in your assertion. However, Among the 40 or so 1940s suits I've owned over the years, all of them featured back pockets.
I'm not sure what the rules are here, but I wear motorcycle boots on occassion, and I do not ride a motorcycle; or if you prefer, I wear engineer boots and I am not an engineer.
