"We've always been at war with Eastasia."
I can understand the purge of information. I'm just surprised they did such a bad job of it initially.
It seems like they are getting bad crisis management advice. I gave AL and WL the benefit of the doubt (based on my interactions with Amanda)...
From the Wayback Machine, it looks like that description was in the Alexander Leathers "About Us" description when their site first launched.

NB: For some reason it appears as white text...
The whole thing is depressing but it makes me respect Ken and the rest of the family even more. I would say that it is equally impressive that Ken basically reinvented the Aero line on the fly in response. If there is a silver lining to this whole ordeal, it is that we have a whole set of...
My first leather jacket was a US Wings kangaroo one. It is lighter than goat and had no break-in at all. Since then I've but numerous jackets made of FQHH, mid-weight HH, lamb, goat, buffalo, steer, bison, kudu, and (possibly) storse. Of the menagerie of hides, kangaroo is one of my...
My first leather jacket was their kangaroo Indy version from about 15 years ago. I love the leather and it's held up well. Although to be honest it doesn't get much wear these days (due more to the number of jackets that I have). When it comes time to sell a few to make room in the closet, I...
Well, I did say "fairly" harmless. $100 a pop isn't bad compared to leather jackets or boots. Unfortunately, I have those vices too... :)
I'll preface this by saying that I'm not an expert on the subject. That said Levis and Wranglers used to be made from selvedge denim, but as some point...
I picked some up the first go around. I liked them enough in the Texas heat that I'm funding the super light zims that they have up now for next summer.
There was some buzz about this in the Gustin forum a few weeks bad. I think one of the Gustin reps chimed in that they had been abandoned due to safety issues (but didn't go into anymore detail). I hadn't even noticed that they were gone until reading those comments.
That is the picture that seems to accompany all of the claims though. Belstaff even had it on their site at one point. According to the metal placket in my Trialmaster the style was developed in 1948. That doesn't seem to give the style much time to find its way from England to Argentina.
Hey Eyestrain, just shot you a PM... but if memory serves you need a certain number of posts to access the messages. If you do not receive it let me know. I may be able to hook you up.
I've been very happy with my Detroit (the one posted on filmjackets.com - didn't feel like taking part in the Aero / Alexander arguing that was going on here at the time which is why I didn't post it here). I had the same basic requirements asymmetrical design without much hardware. It has a...
I have a US Wings jacket in kangaroo (and an Aero Pioneer in kudu). Absolutely love the kangaroo leather. It may be my favorite hide that I own. That leather jacket was my first so take that into consideration...
Fanch, as a side note for you, the kangaroo is almost perfect for Texas...
Fantastic jacket. I like the clean look with the deletion of the chest pocket... and it was nice of the weather to turn so you could get some wear out of it this week!
Damn those Zimbabwes. Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in.
I've done a cold wash and hang dry with a few pairs after wearing. The shrinkage in length has been negligible for me. Areas that have stretched out during wear (waist / thighs) do seem to shrink back down slightly...
That's great to hear. I suspect that the grey silks will get more wear as the warm weather knocks my heavier denim out of the rotation. I'll be interested to see how they break-in.
The odd thing is that they achieve that aura without much actual feedback on the denim. I was one of the lucky ones that scored a pair of grey silks in the second offering. My purchase was based on their mystique. They've arrived... and other than trying them on I've never worn them.
Part of...
No worries... the only reason that I felt compelled to comply is that the comments were taken out of context of the personality developed within the forum. The closest equivalent that I can give is that it would be like one of the more ardent Aero supporters making a sarcastic comment about...
