Bates Hats no longer British Made

Roomy is an understatement - I've got a 61 that I must get round to passing on - I ended up sizing down to a 59. The straw quality of the two I've got are fine. The sweat is synthetic and the mesh liner isn't great, but no problems with the straw body.

    grammy hat??

Hudson Hawk - for what it's worth, I don't think the hat works with the tracksuit top. Where we might disagree is that I think the hat works well with the original buffalo girl collection, and that the buffalo girl collection was an interesting and intelligent design.

    grammy hat??

I agree that the less used forums are predominantly vintage based, but that doesn't imply in anyway that the majority of users have no interests beyond those, surely? a lot of members only visit the hats forum. Personally I visit some of the others occasionally, but (and I can only guess) that...

Bates Hats no longer British Made

There are no UK fur-felt producers (or at least not any that make to any volume). Most of the hats Bates, Lock & Co etc. sell are re-branded Tonaks, but some are from other sources. Lock & Co's bowlers are made by Christy's (in the UK) but I believe the felt is Spanish or Portuguese. Most of...

    grammy hat??

Count me in as one with eclectic interests. Most of us have an interest in hats from the 20's through the 50's because that's when fedora wearing was at it's peak, but that doesn't mean our interests are that narrowly refined. We have members who post very little in the Fedora threads, but have...

A flying visit and TJones has said most of it :) Just to add: TJones - the western really suits you. Andy - good to see you're getting some wear out of the star. HistoryTeach - I commented in another thread, but that's a great find. looks really good. Sam - always good to see a Fed worn well.
