It seems that big-headedness is a broadly spread affliction:eusa_doh: Thank you to all who have posted thus far; it makes me feel welcome:o

Home for lunch, thought I'd snap a shot. Same hat everyday, folks!

Thanks, he was a monkey for halloween. Come to think of it, he's a monkey anyway!lol And, oddly enough as I take up the hat hobby, he HATES hats! At least on himself; he also has taken to trouncing on my Bailey if it's in arms reach[huh]

OK, first milestone, right? 15 posts, on my way to 30 fifillion-gagillion... whatever:rolleyes:
Did somebody here pick up that Dobbs Hunter Mt. today on eBay? I got cut out of in the last 5 seconds by $.99:rage: Oh, well, maybe next time.

3 to go...
He's 15 mos. he already gets a kick out of trouncing all my other things, so he'll have a ball with my hats once they start arriving! But, what are you gonna do?[huh] ;) This was his only nap today, so he should be ready to go down at his usual 9 pm. How old are your girls? Are...
OK, here's post #12. I don't suppose this really falls within the rules, does it? Does anybody know if there was a Dobbs model named the Regency? I did a search, and the only result I came up with was the color of an Akubra model.
#15... coming right up!
Understood! I'll work on these post numbers, in between OFAS checks (two items I'm trying for) and waking my son from his nap that's running too long:)
Curious...
... I highly doubt my wife would authorize me to spend that much on an old hat, but I must ask anyway: what will you do with it? Stash it away, or re-sell it? It would seem a shame for it to sit and collect dust on account of being in such immaculate shape!
DITTO! Even worse when it's the ever-present crazy-patterned Yankees hat that is perched delicately over a doo-rag! Some fashion statement...
Regards, Andy
Carter, you dog!
:p I saw that Mallory too, but the price was going up a bit too quickly for my wallet! Dang it! Enjoy, it's a fine looking lid, even from where I'm sitting!

Where does one...
... find such a rig? OFAS? Seems to me they might be a tad spendy. About the stretcher; makes me thankful I didn't win that old metal one the other day. Thought better of it at the last minute and gae it up.
Good advice, feltfan, thank you!

Indycop, thanks for the encouragement:cool: It IS a jungle out there!
Carter, being new to this yet I'm still trying to get a good idea about brands and models. The items that have caught my eye most are the Open Road (versatility), Stratoliner, and a particular Mallory...
As many of you know, it's pretty slim pickins out there for us folks with somewhat larger-than-normal noggins! As a nooby getting into this hobby/lifestyle, I've had about as much luck finding something decent on OFAS as a blind man trying to discern between a Monet and a Jackson Pollock...
mercury, eh?
Wow, I've talked to a few other folks about those, and they are apparently a highly-coveted item! The hat that I have has about a 6.5-7" crown, it's just in great need of a reblock and deep cleaning. I believe it was a ranchers hat; it's pretty grimy and 'well loved'. Can't...
Optimo resizing...
Barry, fantastic hat! Looking forward to seeing the refurb that Graham did on your Brit fedora. Can he really resize that much? From 7 1/4 all the way up to 7 5/8? I picked an old Stetson 8X cowboy that I'd like to Stratoliner-ize, but I need to get it from 7 3/8 up to 7...
