Ah,poor horsey...lol! Sorry, couldn't resist. This has been an interesting debate to read.I think you all have made valid points, but has anyone changed their mind? This may just be a case that everyone just has to agree to disagree.[huh]

    "Lazy" Vintage Hair Ideas

Babydoll-that look is adorable on you! My ponytails never look as cute as yours.Did you curl your ends under or does your hair curve naturally?I think the ribbon adds alot and finishes the look.I never think to get ribbon. When my hair gets long enough I hope you're not offended if I copy your look.

    fancy dress issues

Not Golden Era,but i think you could pull off Winona Ryder as Mina in Bram Stoker's Dracula.Of course, you'd have to find a willing victim for Dracula. Here's the page of Google images I found, but they aren't allowing me to post.the red dress is smashing, but that green ensemble with the doll hat...

    The loss of occasion

I think what is appropriate is difficult to define.I agree that the times have changed and not everyone has the same definition.A large part of what some think is appropriate is really more about preference. While some may think that the "funeral guest" showing up in jeans is a faux pas,someone...

A Lot o' Mottos: What are your words to live by?

Jazzbaby's moto made think of a line from a Louis Jordan song: "I'm gonna drink to everybody's health til I ruin my own!" I hate to admit that was pretty accurate for me in my teens to late 20s,but one day I decided I didn't want to live like that anymore so I stopped. When anyone asks me...

    1940s picnic

Sounds like you've covered it well. The only thing I can think to add is another drink choice, such as lemonade or sweet tea.I'm from the south,so that may explain my thinking. What a great idea!I've really been wanting to have a vintage style picnic after reading about the Gatsby Summer...

    Buffing One's Nails

Dottie-I'm so glad you posted this! I gave up my pedis and acrylic nails when I became pregnant, partly due to financial reasons and partly due to wanting to be extra careful.I always had a thin layer of acrylic added to slightly short rounded nails, because my hands are in water so much that...

    Vintage vs Modern

Definitely, some valid points everyone's made. I know I pretty much wear modern clothing with classic lines and have admittedly found some that wasn't too shabby. I am guilty of indulging in some disposable fashion as well, but I still think that unless investing in Couture or making clothing...

    Vintage vs Modern

I do agree that the quality isn't the same with exception to some of my Isaac Mizrahi(I'm in love with this line) items from Target.I think they are suprisingly well done for the price and i like that he almost always has some classic lines. I think LD made a great point that designers today...
