Repro service shoes vs. the real thing

Oh Gods, buy the At The Front brown ones, they are just fine for the money and if you wear them out you can get new ones. I have had mine for about a year and they serve as my main pair of shoes.

    Old British army sizing

The sizes would go up: for example a man 5' 10" in height and a 32" waist would be a size 9. A size 10 would be a 6' 0" and 32" waist. Each series of three sizes would have short, average and tall then start over. Dispatch riders coats will be a different sizing system from Battledress. It...

FS: Size 7 1/8 Brown "Dynafelt"

Another hat that's too small for my big head! This is a brown small brim, '60s era. The headband is rough in the front, but the lining is in good shape and the hat overall is in good shape. I am asking $22 obo for this one, Size 7 and 1/8 Again, PM me or email me at dr_forester1 at yahoo dot com

The Elephant in the Room - Man Purse

Hey! My bag too! This thing is heavy, heavy duty and oh so academic. One question: would it be wise to get some pecards on it?

    Mystery Uniform Pants

Could be a British manufacturer. I have a West German Black Beret that was made by a famous British beret manufacturer, the name escapes me at the moment.

    WWII Army Officers Dress Shoes

I love mine; had them for a bit, broke them in really well by the standing in my bathtub method. The only problem is, and this is the only problem, is that the right one squeaks, pretty bad at times. No matter what I do, it squeaks. Annoying, but only detracts from the boot a little bit...

Lets talk about WWII Brit plimsoles

And those pictures from his site are lifted directly from the History and Collections volume on The British Soldier. And not just one, ALL of them.

    WWII Combat Fashion?

What about the ETO jacket? It was essentially a cross between the Parsons jacket (not the M41) and British BD. I ordered an example from What Price Glory. After trimming the sleeves up it's a warm, though waist length, winter jacket.

    Paratrooper Boots

I have a pair of the At The Front boots. They are pretty decent for the price, I have had no problems with them, save for the single eyelet coming off. I need to get some of that Pecards stuff you speak of to darken it up though.

    The future of style.

Check out the New Battlestar Galactica; while not strictly out future the clothes are subtly different and the Uniforms are strangely retro while having a modern flair. Don't confuse the new with the Old. Old BSG is terrible, terrible!

There is absolutely nothing in Knoxville, unless I am mistaken. I am not surprised at that though.

    A Civil Discourse About Reenacting

Ouch. I will respectfully disagree with the statement "Despised by the veteran community". I have did one helluva lot of events over the years, some very specific World War II events that were advertised as such, and many vets attend and they all seem to enjoy what we do. My and the guys I...

The Dumbest Comment I Ever Heard

I just ended an internet fight with a troll on another forum who firmly believes that fedoras are for nerds and dorks. I feel sad that such people exist and refuse to believe that dressing nice involves more than a "good" t-shirt and a baseball cap. Sometimes I feel like the only guy in the...

    British Officers Ammo Boot

Actually I have pictures of three British officer's boots, smooth leather and a rubber heel on everyone of them. They were the same pattern but had little else in common with the Ammo boot. I don't know about taking a bath with them: they slip bad enough as is!

    British Officers Ammo Boot

Yes, I own a pair, do not get them for everyday wear. They have heal plates and these make every trip on tile an experience in slipping and sliding. The leather is damn stiff, sturdy though, but very stiff and requires a bit of breaking in. They look really good in person though, I will give...
