    Famous Designers

Fascinating - Do you have an example/photo of the dress still as a reference? When I have a bit more time - I'd like to post the designer and some examples of the their work as a reference.

    Famous Designers

I started a thread a while back (it didn't go anywhere) but I love the idea! I like to keep my eyes out for quality pieces and collectibles. I know nothing about jewelry but would love to learn more. Personally, as for clothing designers, I am a fan of the 50s work of some of these. I...

Kamikat- I think that the top is incredibly flattering for your figure. If you don't like the whole thing, perhaps the gathers in the front of the skirt are the issue? Maybe more of an A-line/flat front might be better for your figure? The front pleats maybe just aren't needed. I am...

Wow~ Amy Jeanne! Didn't you just start sewing not too long ago? The things you post sure look fantastic. I hope I pick it up that quickly. Did you take a class or are you picking this all up on your own? I have really admired your pattern/fabric selections - they are right up my alley.

    Clothing color combinations

I'm naturally a brunette. In the summers I got red highlights. Now unfortunately just a lot of grey with dark brown. The second photo was my haircolor as it stands today. I will probably wear th ered thru the summer and will be about the time I think of going back to brunette.

I'll take a stab too... I just cannot figure myself out. Perhaps it is all the haircolor changes I go thru. I love jewel tones and greens Terrible in red - but more tru haircolor (a little more blond these days) Brunette me (someday I might go back, close to my natural coloring). I...

    Rosie The Riveter Hair

Texas Girl inspired me I've been wearing my hair up lately. Beehives, rosie's , you name it. Excuse the bloaty face, I need to step up my weight loss regime. I tried a different scarf today so I could try and get away with the Rosie while at work.

Do you get comments when you DON'T dress vintage?

I generally take a few camping/adventure trips a year. I do not dress vintage then. It's funny to share my photos afterwards with friends and family. There is always a comment of " I barely recognize you like that!"

Miss Mary- You are lovely first thing in the morning. I wish I could wake up like that! I think your best colors are Red, Purple, Royal blue, White, Pale Blue and Cerise. I think blondes always look striking in black as well. Blues really suit you and I go back and forth on the turquoise -...

Darhling - the way I look at it, you are gorgeous with either coloring. I think that haircolor can change the "type" of pretty that projects. As a blond you are beautiful, perky and cute. And as a brunette, perhaps a bit more exotic, sultry, edgy and gorgeous. Take that for what it's worth...

The White Stripe: a hair dilemma

I had this for a time. It took quite a few bleachings and then toning to get it to look respectable. I did it myself - but I am a cheapskate combined with a wild desire to dye my hair myself. I've majorly bleached mine about 4 times in my life - all with different results. I would recommend...

    Sewing Lessons & FAQ

I barely know how to sew and am attempting a vintage pattern. The ruched one shown. I have it pieced toghether and am trying to figure out how to do gathers. Do you simply baste it down and then attach it to the stay on the wrong side? This is done by hand right? Anyone have any tricks to...

When does a gentleman fight back?

It's makes me quite sad as well. I've never understood the "macho" fighting thing. Certainly I would absolutely believe in defending someone who is being attacked unjustly. But I'll be truthful, men who just caught up in the heat of the moment are honestly an enormous turn-off for me. Not...

    Interesting Idea

I cannot do it. I am a color freak. I have everything under the sun. Depending on my haircolor, some things may get pushed to the back. But I will always love green though. I work in an industry where the nuances of color are always being changed and celebrated and I get suckered into it I...
