Just when you thought you had seen it all . . . (Warning: Not for the fainthearted)

Since we are arcing into value and aesthetics once again, I wonder what is the most expensive insubstantial article of clothing anyone can find? I'm talking about itsy-bitsy, teeny-weenie bikini's and like. Maybe measured in dollars per ounce.

Just when you thought you had seen it all . . . (Warning: Not for the fainthearted)

Yours for only $12,900 now on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Azzedine-ALAIA-sculptural-couture-leather-runway-shearling-jacket-rare-vintage/283402890296?hash=item41fc20ec38:g:OGgAAOSwPYNcJtal It's like a cross between an Irvin jacket and a lampshade. The thing is, besides being utterly ghastly...

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Nick, What a beautiful home; beautiful jacket, too.

Aero Sneak Preview - Tweed Three-Piece Suit and Leather B-10...

The olive leather B-10 really appeals to me, too. The durability factor in calculating value ranks pretty high with me. Plus, I love leather in general.

Just when you thought you had seen it all . . . (Warning: Not for the fainthearted)

Someone left the purple jacket out in the rain. That leather is beyond "distressed". I'd call it ruined.

    Naming a plane

You should read, Combat Crew by John Comer. It has tons of interesting details about the American air war from a crewman's perspective. My favorite war memoir.

What car to go with your flight jackets?

I'm thinking that maybe we ought to go with the best sports car made by our respective countries. Take your pick. Personally, irrespective of countries, Jaguar E-type is my overall fav, followed by the 427 Cobra, but the Irvin jacket cries out for an MG, doesn't it? For the larger fellow...

    Naming a plane

What I have read is that USAAF bombers were named by either the pilot or by the crew, if the pilot so desired. Often, planes were referred to by the end of their i.d. number, e.g. "739", if not by name.

It goes perfectly with your beard.

When and where do you wear your Irvin jacket?

Wore my BoB ELC to walk the dog tonight. It's 37 deg F (2.77778 deg C) - lol - and I was warm as toast. I don't care about what people think or say about it. I love it.

Aero Real Deal A2 fit pic

I wonder if the problem with this particular A-2 is the sleeve pitch. It doesn't look right to me. Consider the twist in the leather around the shoulder area, and the baggy back and "slim" front. Faulty pitch would account for both of those problems. The reference to pulling it down in the back...

    Opinions on Overland Sheepskin Co.?

I agree with HooDad above that there is a fashion element at play here. I visited their Denver showroom and it struck me as, well, above my pay grade. I loved smelling all those leather goods and I eventually bought a very nice Aussie-style felt hat for $75, which I considered a reasonable...

How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

I know a jacket like this is not highly regarded here on FL, but goat looks better and better with age, the jacket fits me to a "T" and consider the price: $45 incl shipping. My last one is retired for failure of the collar after twenty-five years. Can't seem to rotate the image - sorry.

My new Eastman House A2, Seal Brown Warhorse

Wow! I'm impressed with how good that looks and how well it fits.

Is this the worst 'Bay jacket ever?

Sheep's leather, is in "used to belong to a sheep". As for the other monstrosity, the "M-442A", I wonder what it would've looked like if they hadn't botched the distressing process? Maybe not quite as horrible. Seems like a beta model to me. The collar reminds me of creepy hair implant hair, or...

Real McCoy's not expensive enough for you? Try this...

People appreciate different things about clothing. I think leather aficionados such as Loungers do appreciate some of the same things that fashionistas do: quality, aesthetics, identity stuff (what it means to wear a certain style) but where we part ways with $14K-for-a-jacket crowd is money...

    Coldest Weather I've been in

Madison, WI, Jan '71 @ -26 F. My JC Penney (or Sears) N-3B snorkel jacket did the job walking my dog but I was really skinny and had such long arms that to get enough sleeve length we had to get a larger size, a size so wide that two of me could've fit in it. A bit drafty. A couple of years...
