Wow! Thanks so much, everyone, for your well wishes and congrats :) I want to post wedding photos in a thread in steamer trunk, but I have to finish resizing them first. The wedding and reception were both on the Berkeley at the San Diego Maritime Museum. It's a 1890s ferry boat that went...
Here's also photos of my wedding dress I made. There was a vintage piece that went on top for the ceremony and this is what I wore for the reception:
This is with the lace over the top, but you can see all the ruffles I did for the train
My measurements are the same for the most part as NicolettaRose, and late 20's through early 40s are the best fit for me. Ditto what ShoreRoadLady said- things were padded and cinched through all eras depending on fit. padding/cinching would make more eras fit.
I also think the lamp looks 60's. I don't really know much about furnishings, but it seems to me the 80's ones were lighter and tended to have big stickers/plastic little things on the bottom. One thing I just thought of, is plug shape. Plugs tended to look a lot different as time went on...
I voted 30's. My era of preference for my body type are specifically 1929-1941, though I am finding I'm leaning even a little more into the 1920's than I had before- the fabrics were brilliant. I also love the Audrey look of the 50's, but I have a hard time pulling it off.
Wow! Betty and Decodoll, your hats are amazing.
Betty, that crepe one is interesting... I saw a fabric like that on a mourning gown at the FIT Gothic Glamor exhibit. Is it woven like that or do you think the fabric was treated to get the wrinkle look?
I guess, to me at least, the prices on ebay are getting quite ridiculous because you can't see the item firsthand. In a store I might pay $160 because I could try it on and examine condition in person but on ebay? With not very good pictures? Kind of silly, but that's just my opinion.
Oh noes, Sunny! That first one with the ruffles down the front is to die for!
I agree with you on the price of the purple. It's pretty, but it seems wierd to me to pay that much for something like that. I also think it's later. I have a blue one like that that I made more 30's by adding...
The pants seemed to run pretty true to size. The waist was a little snug, but that's because I ordered it a size smaller than my quoted size on the chart (usually the things I order from online run bigger than stated)
I got these from Newport News and love them to pieces.
I also just ordered these and these, but I'm waiting for them to get here. There's lots more wide leg pants on their site as well.
