    We're Back From The BRINK!

Lots of knowledge almost lost. Like the Library of Alexandria -- up in flames. Lost, forever. Or like when the Romans sacked Carthage in 146 BC, and they distributed Carthage's library to the African nomad princes around. Now it's all lost. Untold hundreds (thousands?) of books in Phoenician...

    10 overrated classics

The first two times were mildly amusing, I'll grant. After 100 times did it still amuse you? The first time or two that my gay acquaintances called me a "breeder" (a funny, slightly insulting term for a heterosexual) I thought it was humorous; but after a dozen times in which it is said as...

    10 overrated classics

Nice site. I hated Arsenic and Old Lace passionately. I found it sick. Not sinister, just sick. Killing those old people wasn't funny to me at all. I hated the idiot yelling "Charge" also. The other movie classic I cannot stand is It's A Wonderful Life. Gag me. Jimmy Stewart's accent in that...

TWIKI It was Twiki and he had another robot with full brain and full personality in the form of a disc with a face, hung around his neck, named Dr. Something.

Let's See Your Watches! The Vintage Watch Thread.

Stauer "Dashtronic." Hi, I know Stauer is not the greatest name, but I couldn't resist this for a hundred bucks: the "dashtronic" with a face like a 1930s auto dashboard or radio gauge. No dial. Faux jumping mechanism. ($99 cannot normally get you a real one.) It is quite unique and cool. I...

    Favourite Horror Flick?

Can I possibly have more of a synopsis or something? If no one minds. I must say, it is delightful to talk about horror movies with people as refined as all of you.

    Favourite Horror Flick?

I loved The Others and I'll look up The Innocents and The Uninvited. Speaking of Val Lewton, I loved his The Thirteenth Victim. Was it horror? Noir? Who knows. Loved it.

The Return of The Three Piece Suit

Embrace the fact that in many places it is downright freaky to wear one of these. Embrace the freakiness. As I used to be a punk rocker, for me this is easy and fun. (Personally, I prefer a contrasting vest. But I like the 3-pieces that I do have.)

    LEATHER RESTORATION

Rubbing alcohol: great product and it is 99c for a ~12 oz. bottle. I use it to disinfect cuts and scrapes. It's better as it's not annoying red like iodine and it doesn't lose its potency like hydrogen peroxide. Plus it feels really good on a wound. Hot. I've used it for cleaning too.

    Favourite Horror Flick?

Why Blair Witch Project worked for me. (Spoilers.) {whoops, had to edit front of post -- it retold the exact story I told in an earlier post about why the blair witch project worked for me. But the FOLLOWING part may be of moderate interest to those who didn't see why anyone liked it} I...

What to do with a dark olive double breasted jacket

I generally agree, but it depends on the occasion. I have two "suits" that are separately bought trousers plus jacket and if it is night time, there is no way in hell anyone could possibly tell. Even in daytime it is nearly impossible. I wouldn't wear these ensembles to an Event, but for...

    Hot Weather Footwear

Not exactly shoes ... For hot weather I like those karate shoes. The kinds with the extremely thin brown plastic sole and the black cloth upper. They are cheap, less than 6 bucks, usually. I find them incredibly comfortable. If not that, then Winos, preferably lace-up if you can find them. The...
