ah, good to know. It would be my advantage if I follow up the other boards more carefully before posting.
It is said people who read do have an advantage ;)
Dear all,
My wife and I watched the movie "desert queen" quite a while ago. My wife instantly fell in love with the hat worn by Nicole Kidman, playing Gertrude Bell. Since then, we keep searching all local hat stores in Vienna but with no sucess so far.
Also, our online research failed so far...
longliving, crushable felt hat with 2 1/4" brim width (!) wanted. tough buiseness, they usually come in 2 1/2" or 2". Any style close a filson tin cloth is aceptable.
Sugestions?
oilskin hats do tend to breath not at all, which is a complete no-go for my use unfortunaly (though I like the look and feel of them quit a lot)
I was thinking of getting myself a newsbiy cap or similar for town, but when I am out in the fields, I really do want to wear a hat.
Maybe I just...
unfortunally the tilleys are not really what I have in mind, though the R11 Raffia Fedora would be a very nice summer town and holiday hat, but not the allround hat I am looking for.
Also, I don't like mesh-hybrid hats, so to say
real life Indiana Jones hat wanted (it's about crushable canvas hats, realy)
I am posting extremly seldome here although I bump into this site more or less frequently, doing some reading and enjoying all the nice vintage stuff in here. I originaly came from the Indy gear hobby. Wearing a Indy...
Well yes, shame on me. I know I am late with these. I suggest the future owner not to wer them right away but treat the fur with oil, as the leather itself will certainly pretty dry underneth the hair (mostly with vintage fur goods)
ultra rare to find dog sledge gauntlets, most likely made in the 30's or 40's
Colour and shape manufatured and regarding to their previous owner they have been RCMP issue. As they are not stamped or tagged, I can't give a 100% guarantie on the RCMP matter.
Nethertheless, they are made of...
incredibly and well preserved pea coat of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, made at least 75 years ago, in near mint condition. In that period of time, these coats where regular service issue. Original King's Crown buttons made of real brass in execelent condition, no scratches and very high in...
thank you, but not quit what I'm looking for:
1. I'm looking for a bushcraft suitable hat which shouldn't look to noble. I.e. if it got a burnmark it should rather look good than damaged
2. too expensive
I give it another try:
who can identify this hat or (even better) can tell me where to get a very close looking one (it have to be crushable, cloth sweatband would be good, too):
Hi guys!
Although it's my first post here, I need to start with a question allready.
I'm wearing an Adventurebuilt right know since I allways was a huge Indiana Jones fan. I still like it but I want to move to a real adventurehat that will fit my needs, such as:
- crushable
- usually worn...
Well, I met this guy last year in the Bush.
I was facinated by him becouse I never thought that I would ever meet a real canadian Trapper from the old days. So this picture hung in the lounge of Nechako Lodge, where I met him.
So I'm really thinking of getting such a beaten up hat to put it...
I never asked him about how much he spent on his hat nor which kind it was. The man was 18 or 19 years old on this picture, that's allmost all I can tell ya
Hy guys!
I was told at Club Obi wan that you may help me out.
I met an old Trapper last year in B.C.
This photo was taken in Alberta, 1938:
I know you could hardly see how the hat looked like, but does anyone of you have an idea wich hat it could be?
