Hmm, I'm thinking Franklin D. Roosevelt wore one most often? John F. Kennedy, contrary to popular belief, wore a fedora sometimes too, but he wasn't exactly what you'd call a hat man. Lyndon B. Johnson was mostly known for wearing an Open Road, which could be considered a fedora.
Hmm, why is that, you think? Is it because it's too dressy looking, maybe? The dark grey color in my opinion is dressier or more formal than the others, although less so than black...
Anyway, while I was thinking of getting a Stylemaster before, I'm thinking about trying out a narrower brim at...
I would say this: if you know black's your style, then cool! Have a black hat to go with the rest of the ensemble, I'm sure it'll look alright. Hopefully, you'll enjoy wearing your new hat too.
I've never had a situation where I was having a hat with me to the bank, it may come up, but I don't wear a hat every day. I'll have to see about it. If it's impractical to take it off, I'll just leave it on unless directed to otherwise.
I personally like the style of the Biltmore Ark more than the Rosellini. Black is a great color though! I've never had a Biltmore hat before, but many of them are stylish.
I'm not sure if this counts, but I was watching a YouTube video, and it has some great jazzy tune at the start (also a tune from the film "Le Samourai," one of my favorites, is included later on around the 7 minute point), I have no idea what it's called, or who it's by, but I like it. It's some...
While I cannot boast any sort of actual knowledge of cursive beyond my name, one thing that I do hold highly is a proper understanding of my nation's history, at least on a pretty basic level; the Revolutionary War, Civil War, the World Wars, etc... It's sad that there are quite a number of...
Not bad! That just about describes the way I see hat etiquette working for myself, maybe with the exception of that elevator bit, I don't personally see much of a reason to remove one's hat as a general rule in there, it may seen more affected, if anything.
I can't even write or read cursive all that well, myself... that's one of those things I'll have to revisit someday, if for the sake of keeping the art alive. My last name is just about all I know how to properly write, pretty sad but true.
That's a nice straw fedora you've got there, welcome!
Oh, and Croatia? I'm expected to be going there myself, this summer, to stay and visit relatives on an island for three weeks. I've been there before about eleven years ago, it's a very nice country!
I would much rather wear a leisure suit (hmm, maybe a white three-piece with a black shirt? At least I'd look about as good as John Travolta did wearing one) laying in my casket in my own funeral, rather than wear a t-shirt, shorts, and flip flops... That is, if I had no choice otherwise. It...
Yes, thank you. That's the generation gap showing, isn't it... There have been times I've thought about wearing fedoras or slicking my hair less often (as well as wearing collared shirts most of the time), but such a conformist attitude doesn't appeal to me. I enjoy doing my own thing, although...
I ended up getting my hair cut today, and went with a moderate pompadour style.

I did find my dad's comments on it...
Thank you for your help, everyone! I may end up watching both films, to see if I can recall the mentioned elements from any of them. But yes, I was just a child when I saw the film I'm inquiring about in this thread, it did leave a memorable impression, though. :)
As in more often than before, or just the same as it's ever been the past decade? If you're talking about those rapper style flat bill caps, then yes, I've seen more and more of those over the past two or three years.
I know it's a TV show that's supposed to portray the ideal family and all, but I was watching an episode of The Brady Bunch, and I noticed that they're a heck of a lot more dressed up than today's families, typically speaking. I think on the Hawaii episode, they even wore suits getting on and...
I wouldn't call them deplorable, but as for me, I'd say I'm more on the 1950s/1960s side of retro, with a bit of '40s World War II inspiration, and combined with some modern sensibilities. There are some people here who can wear full 1920s/'30s attire and look great.
