Does anyone know what is really the case with William Shatner's hair, or lack thereof? I have heard many times that he is, or was a frequent toupee wearer, even back in the days of The Original Series. So is there strong evidence that would suggest that, or has he ever admitted it?
Politics aside, I find his Drudge Report interesting. I don't see why he would give hats a bad name, I think it's cool that he chooses to wear fedoras.
Charlie Sheen and Jack Abramoff scream "pretentious," though.
This is too bad, and I hope that some effort is made to attempt preserving it. I'm surprised some highly wealthy individual isn't living there, though. Is this building particularly well known in Long Island?
Kind of a copout, as I didn't actually wear it on this particular day, but here is my grey Stetson with the contrast collar and cuff shirt I had ordered. I think it's a sharp style, if a bit subject to the Wall Street investor and Gordon Gekko stereotype without the hat or shades. I did remind...
These seem to be more of the "outback" or "western" style hats, but interesting list nonetheless. I guess that's what Akubra sells most of, not necessarily fedoras. I suppose the Traveller is, or is borderline fedora style.
Yes, actually that's true, thanks. He was definitely inspired by the somewhat American noir films of the 1940s, maybe 1950s. After all, what two clothing accessories are most associated with the genre? The trench coat and fedora of course.
Wore my new contrasting collar and cuffs shirt today to church and out to lunch with family and friends, as seen in the avatar. Maybe I'll try my grey fedora with it, sometime. I'm only wearing it in the avatar as a sort of accessory to it, I didn't actually wear it today.
I know how a lot here feel about the latter half of the 1960s and 1970s, but I actually like the general "look" characterized in late 1960s, or early 1970s French New Wave/noir films. Le Samourai (1967), The Sicilian Clan (1969), and Le Cercle Rouge (1970) come to mind.
Examples:
Le Samourai...
Great fedora! I think the matching ribbon and bound edge, along with that color (is it light grey, or tan?) looks sharp. What's the crown height and brim width on this one? I think this is one of the coolest hats you have in your collection. Buckeroo Hatters did a fine job making this hat.
Hoodie leather jackets are very common at my campus, as far as leather jacket wearers are concerned, themselves quite a bit of people. I don't own a hoodie, used to but lost 60 pounds, and I doubt I'd ever wear one that has the hood attached to the leather jacket. I won't put myself above ever...
Nothing wrong with that. I think it can look good, and I have even done this myself before, occasionally. In fact, my last high school photo depicts me sporting a very spike-front hairstyle, along with a suit and tie. My brothers still do this sometimes as well.
Alright, so today Royal Crown Pomade came in, just under a week of ordering it off of Amazon, which I was pleasantly surprised with the shipping. I had already applied some Brylcreem and Dax Wave & Groom wax earlier that morning, but I had also added some Royal Crown pomade, and that stuff is...
That hat looks cool! The crown's higher than anything I'd consider wearing for myself right now, but it works and looks right on you, too. Great felt and ribbon colors.
Here are three pictures of me that I can recall from 2009. I'm not sure if I've still got anything earlier than that uploaded on the internet. I looked quite shabby compared to today, so here's a "now and then" sort of thing:
February, 2009 (my mustache attempt)
May 1, 2009 (longer hair by...
Interesting that you bring up an Axe product. Even though I've never used it before, and it may not be a sort of pomade at all (it's waxy feeling though), my brothers actually use one called "Axe Whatever Messy Look Paste," or something. I heavily doubt it being a wet look product, but it seems...
Today was casual, as I did not have to go anywhere in particular, although I've been invited to view a school event later in the evening. Just a polo shirt and khakis. I may wear my G-1 leather jacket later as it gets colder.
Hmm, the ribbon looks smaller too, in that first picture of Archie Bunker's hat. The second photo seems to be wider in both brim and ribbon, just a bit...
I'm sorry to hear that, Orgetorix (Are you interested in ancient Gallic history?). As it turns out, there was a funeral for a friend of my family today, too. I do think you dressed appropriately for the event, though.
As for the thread, I don't have my picture up yet, but I'll upload it...
Nice! Three or four nights ago, I happened to catch the last quarter of an episode. Happy Days has always been a favorite of mine, featuring the coolest sitcom character ever.
Come to think of it, I've always used shower water to wet-crease my hats. Am I OK, or is this damaging too? I mean, my own Fed IV, as well as my vintage Stetson I wet once, are alright, felt wise. I thought the slightly "discolored" or uneven color look was normal for Akubra brand felt, though.
