That's a good search but you will also need:
- chest waders

Photography takes practice regardless of the subject. Fedoras certainly add their own complexity to the game. Getting the light right is one thing but given the multitude of angles and shadows presented by the lumps and dents in a fedora we have a very complex problem.

Our friend, HATCO, has stated that Stetson uses powder in the felt finishing process to prevent the kind of mottling we are talking about in this thread. He also mentioned that he had seen mottling in Akubras.

I borrowed a Jiffy steamer at a western shop a while back to rework a "paper straw" and a felt. I found the steam quite wimpy. I wonder if the thing was dirty and clogged up. The clerk said that it didn't get much use.

Both of these lids would be Akubra's Imperial felt.
Go for the Campdraft since you wisely appreciate the bound brim. My tauny Campdraft has served me through hell, high water, low water, good and bad business decisions and it still fits.
I have yet to notice how it works against hand...
