    Briefcases

This vintage military briefcase just ended on ebay. The design is the same as the Atlas. Anybody know how to date it by the interior stamping?

    Post New Hats Here!

It looks great, but that would have annoyed me. I'm a big fan of wind trolleys. Did they keep the various original parts on it? Is that a Cav edge?

    Post New Hats Here!

^Gorgeous, toobacat, but I hate to see the wind trolley go. Odd that one of the roll up hats was fully lined. I thought generally they just had a little medallion on the top. Great score. I took a look at the auction. I have no idea how you turned that one up.

    Sell or Stretch?

Since you've ordered from Art now you might consider seeing if he could resize it for you according to your head size since he can do an exact fit. That said, given the condition, age and size of that hat you likely could get enough for it to put toward another custom. Good idea. Gives you...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I'll content myself that it wasn't my size, but I very badly want one of the travel Borsalinos in the box.

    Cufflinks and Shirt Studs.

^JEEP--those are fantastic! :eusa_clap (so how much did you pay?) I also really like the sterling links in the post above, too. They have such a nice mellow patina to them. Great finds all.

FS: Lee Black Label "Commentator" 7 3/8 (late 40s-early 50s?)

Well have fun picking. My personal opinion on a first custom is to go with something very versatile that you'll have on your head all the time. That way you get the most for your money. You can specialize on your subsequent hats. ;)

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Treat the sweatband with some leather conditioner (Lexol, etc). After a few treatments I've found that hats will loosen up some. A light stretching might help, too (after the leather is thoroughly treated).

If you go with London Luggage note the discount mentioned in the upper right hand corner of their website. Make sure you use the discount code when you order to knock the price down to a more reasonable amount.

    The Open Road Guild

I have no idea--I didn't even know you'd ordered something from Art! :eusa_doh: The HST is Art's OR-esque Limited Edition, so I was just saying if you're going with Art exclusively (not a bad choice, certainly) and want to be in the Guild, the HST would be the hat to get. Now we can all...

    Briefcases

Hey, I didn't make you resurrect the thread. :) I do still have it and it has aged very well. At this point the new has been knocked off, but it's not really showing significant wear. I carry it weekly, not daily, usually with a laptop. If one is comparing new items at retail then the...

:offtopic: A made in England Burberry or Aquascutum (I'd be satisfied with either) is one of those finds that has eluded me thus far. I've come very close, but so far no cigar. It's one of those 'grail' thrift finds for me.
