Don't use photos. Buy 1940s trousers online (you can get thrashed ones pretty cheap) and ask the tailor to copy them in your size.
Trust me, photos never work. There are tons of examples on this website that prove that point.
I'm not wild about it, but it certainly rounds out their offerings of more sportier jackets.
Personally, I think the cool factor of suede outweighs downsides people have mentioned in this thread.
I've always liked this vintage image of WWII nisei recruits. The guy on the far left has a printed t-shirt tucked into his khakis, and has a casually placed topper on his head. He looks cool, casual, and confident: it's all about how you wear it.
