    What's for Dinner?

Not a must, but hey, beer never hurt any meal. ;)

Walk softly and... well it begins with that.

Not a big fan of the application of faux patina (aka antiquing) that seems to be the current rage in men's shoes.

    Show us your scarves ...

About women's scarves: a good amount are gender-neutral, IMO. Growing up in a household which included three women, clotheshorrses all, I would often raid their closets for scarves and handkerchiefs. For instance, there was a fashion trend in the 60s where women used small silk hankies to...

    "The Vanishing El" (1950)

    Holy grail? 1929 suit

Very well made..... of great cloth that to me, personally, is more wearable as jacketing than suiting. I'm sure that most here would disagree.

    The great flood of 1926-1927

I caught a Weather Channel special on the great US floods a while back and the 26-27 flood was prominently featured. Before that I had a vague recollection of it but had no idea of its scale and longevity. For some reason the Johnstown flood seems to get all the notoriety.

Are Classy Restaurants Lowering Dress Code Standards in Your Area?

There was an article in the NYT the other day saying that a recent trend has New Yorkers dressing up in much greater numbers when going out on the town, especially the younger folks. That's good news.

Irony in the misconception that people who wear fedoras look ridiculous

For really cold and windy weather I ditch the fedoras in favor of tweed flat caps with thinsulate lining and drop down rabbit fur ear flaps. Very toasty. In bitter cold the fashion cops tend to zip it up and even if they were to comment I would laugh right in their face.

    Spear point collar shirts

That's pretty much all you'll see off the peg. French cuffs denote 'dressy' and pockets do not.
