    What are you wearing today??

I lengthened the string on my gallery monocle so that it hangs below my watch chain. It was about level before, but I didn't like the lense hitting the chain, I was worried about scratches. I typically keep it in my waistcoat pocket anyway, but that's not really an option with white-tie.

Have you ever had a stranger photograph you...when you were dressed vintage?

Last weekend I saw a photographer taking pictures of my wife and me on our way to a vintage fair from that distance. But he had a giant lense on his camera (he was there for the Leeds Half Marathon which we went by).

WTB: Black double breasted suit jacket

Unfortunately, the Baron's jacket isn't quite the right size for me. Giving this a bump as I'm still looking for a black db jacket with the above specs. To clarify, the 40" chest is my chest measurement and jacket size, not the true circumference of the jacket's chest.

    What are you wearing today??

The monocle's between the jacket and trousers (any pics wearing it?). Is the chain on the trousers a keychain? Spectacular, Bugsy. I like the picture of everything laid out, too, very much like a '30s catalogue illustration.

    Morning dress

I passed up a silk topper that fit yesterday :eusa_doh: Sadly, I just don't have the £85 to spend on a hat that I would wear probably once a year right now.

WTB: Black double breasted suit jacket

As a matter of fact, I've done it to a db before. It isn't really difficult, except for the lining which requires some creative sewing, but I've got a lot of projects on the board right now (for instance, spongebag trousers for the stroller and a db waistcoat) and it's easier if the jacket has...

WTB: Black double breasted suit jacket

I'm in the process of putting together a stroller, and I'd like a double breasted jacket for it. I'm looking for a black 6x2, no vents, 40 chest and ~24" sleeves. Vintage is preferred, but modern would be fine until I find a vintage one. Cheers, Nick

    Charles Tyrwhitt SHIRTS

I only have one of theirs, a short-sleeve I picked up in a charity shop for £3. But it was a very well-spent three quid. The cotton is very nice, the construction is sound, and the fit is very good. It looks like double-needle instead of single, but that doesn't bother me.

    What are you wearing today??

This is a perfect summer look. There's just something about a white double breasted.

Nor you yourself, as I see the comments have been Godwined.

    What are you wearing today??

Thank you, all! Vintage casual wear is something I've been working on in my wardrobe. Widebrim, thank you for the vote of confidence. There was an American in the first round, but I don't think I'll be entering, this year or next if they do it again.

    What are you wearing today??

Today, taking my son to a checkup and then errands around town. I wore a similar outfit to York a couple weeks ago, but with a different tie, '30s instead of '40s pattern trousers, and brown brogues.

    Show us your waistcoats/Vests?

Just imagine the combination of a pair of yellow plus-fours to go with the tattersall waistcoat!

    Show us your waistcoats/Vests?

In the original story, I believe Jeeves is offended not by the length (in the episode they're plus-sixes, not plus-fours), but by the fact that they are canary yellow.

Gentlemen, show us what you've made!

Derek, for your robe my recommendation would be a very light weight non-fusible. That will provide the little bit of body in the collar, and since it's shawl you don't need to worry about flapping lapels. I may be biased, but I avoid fusibles about 95% of the time (there are times I use them...

Have you ever had a stranger photograph you...when you were dressed vintage?

I get it from time to time. I've been approached by a fashion blogger, and a professional photographer who wanted to use a picture of me for promotional material (which was my first photoshoot). I've also had my photo taken with a whole school group at a museum for their classroom wall because...

WWII Photos - Taken / Collected by Family Members

Unfortunately I'm on the wrong side of the Atlantic right now. I'll see if I can copy some of them next time I visit home. He was a radioman on the USS Conner.

Gentlemen, show us what you've made!

Thanks, Derek. Does the pattern call for interfacing? This robe has no interfacing at all, and the collar and lapels lay just fine. I've never done raglan sleeves, so can't help you there. Post pics when you're done!
