in other original swing dance greatness, Hal Takier turned 90 recently :)
i can't believe these guys (and others) are still able to dance so much. i hope i'm in as good of shape when i'm 50!
aaand, it's not tested on animals! compassion is classy!

i'm totally going to try this stuff. i'm not a big makeup person, but it's def time to switch out my old foundation.
i'm right there with you. saying, "well of course i just fell on my face, there's 23 people around to see it!" lightens the mood for me, at least.
of course, if you're a follower of that marketing scheme known as The Secret, the only Law would be, "whatever just happened only happened...
i am so ready for spring. i live in a part of town with less-than-stellar public transportation and let me tell you, i am SICK of standing around waiting for the bus, and i'm a wuss and won't bike when it's super windy/rainy. last winter here was easier, but i had a car then.
"Bake in a slow oven till batter doesn't stick to a broom bristle"
lizzy, one would hope they wash the broom bristle first, huh!
on the topic of more leeway given to cooks, i have this amazing bride memory book from 1947 (yes, it's filled out!) and it has a section for the first meal the...
i had no idea how often needle changes should happen. this explains so much!
this is exactly why i' m signing up for a sewing class series at the adult ed center... i need to learn to do things correctly instead of fumbling through!
ladies, i have fallen OFF the wagon. i've been eating horribly, not exercising, etc.
i'm blaming it on my upcoming period, the weather, and the tattoo i got on my calf last weekend, which HURTS and thus is preventing me from exercising or cooking a proper meal for myself. [huh]
:) but...
i'm a lefty, and i don't think anything special was done to teach me, i learned from a righty.
for beginning books, i hate to admit it but i've used debbie stoller's "Stitch and Bitch" a lot.
hotrod, did you notice thereis a sale page on remix's website right now? it won't help the issue of buying online, but the sale ones might be in your price range. i think most of their shoes have a 2" heel, but they are REALLY comfortable, if that's the issue with higher heels for you.
:offtopic: i went into work the other day wearing a denim a-line skirt, a kids' school t-shirt from a thrift store, striped kneesocks, and dansko maryjanes, and one of my coworkers said to me, "wow, you're really dressed up!"
i can't imagine what would happen if i wore vintage to work. i...
they were sold "as is", and i was aware of the fact that they seemed a little... crunchy, and that they were "unrationed" shoes from wwii which means they weren't quality to begin with.
so i still have them, tucked away somewhere. telling myself that someday i'll have repro's made of them.
bella, that's sad to hear! i'm really glad they're making such nice reproductions though, and have been able to stay in business. in some ways it's better - i'll never forget the time i bought a pair of deadstock playshoes from them, and they fell apart THE NEXT DAY.
i love that site! no matter how many times i look at it, it still makes me cackle. ooh, it looks like new stuff has been posted since last i visited!
staying on topic, i use my grandmother's Guardian Service cookwear on a daily basis. other vintage mainstays in my house are a huge array of...
brooksie, those fingerless mittens sound really cool! and the thigh-high socks. i love stripes.
although the cheaper yarns are tempting, my objection to Red Heart is mainly that every time i've had something made out of it, it gets pilly and gross right away! i had a really cute crocheted bag...
16 sparrows,
those shoes are gorgeous!!
pigeon,
i urge you to go to the remix store if you get a chance! always a ton of great stuff there, and it's so much fun to look around :) you'll have to report on how much deadstock they still have, vs. repro. i remember speculating with...
