I just found this book yesterday for £0.80 (yes, that is 80 pence!) online and promptly bought it. Shipping was about £10, but considering it just sold today for £200 on Ebay and is generally listed for £200-400 I seem to have lucked out. It hasn't arrived as it's coming from the US, but I am...
Thanks again Lady Day. The problem is that the instructions are missing, and that the distance between the pleat here and bring pleat here is rather large (in the last photo from the right hand edge of the pocket marking to the long line on the right of it.
I guess the gathers confuse me...
Ok, so I hope this is clear and large enough:
Upside down, but this is where the gathers go, but not sure how close or far I am meant to do them?
There are two lines saying pleat here and bring pleat here, and I don't understand what pleats they are, as I thought the gathers are making...
Sorry if this has been asked before, but my search didn't come up with an answer. I bought my husband a Stetson Hatteras (Tweed), and it is a smidgen too small. The shop is sold out in a larger size, and we can't find that colour anywhere.
Is it possible to stretch the hat a little bit, as he...
Found a picture of someone who made it on Flickr:

Ah okay, thank you. I will take some pictures tomorrow, as it's really late here now, but thanks for your help :)
I googled the stay earlier and read about some that are attached on the inside to prevent the waist from stretching out or a zipper to be stressed, but couldn't see how that applies...
I was wondering if anyone here could help me with a pattern. I'm making a muslin for McCall's 2440 (wrap dress) and there is a piece to the pattern I can't work out. It's called "Waistline Stay", and I don't understand what it's for or where it's attached exactly?
Also, I am confused by the...
I agree, it is sad. I found the monkey most disturbing (and very reminiscent of Michael Jackson!). I have to say that I don't find the display of dead stuffed animals for decoration any better than people in past times going to see "savages" at freak shows. It's the attitude towards what was...
That may be true, but I don't think that one needs to stick to every single detail of times past to be stylish or follow a lifestyle. I am pretty glad that advances have been made in ethics, social behaviour, and attitudes towards racism and sexism for instance. Animal rights have also...
So, I just received the magazine I ordered and agree about the dead animals on display. Personally I find that a bit disturbing.
Other than that the quality of the magazine is below standard, something I have never encountered before. The paper isn't glossy at all, and all the colours seem...
So funny, because I actually hang new dresses I love on the door of my wardrobe so that I can see them when I wake up or just walk into the bedroom. And my hubby always complains about losing me in shops because I have stayed back to stroke something or feel the fabric/leather/etc.
Whilst perusing one of my favourite blogs I saw someone had put up a link to this older news story: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8484116.stm
So there you go, no coat and tie, but at least banning pj's...
The more I read about this, the more disturbed I get. I also take back my earlier statements...
Good idea! I am rubbish at home decorating, especially because being a military wife we move a lot and the houses are not ours. I painted our own house in a beautiful, cheerful colour and then started renting it out, while I'm stuck with dull beige. At least it's from the 50's :) Sorry, back to...
