Who is your favorite "forgotten singer"?

Teddy Grace. 1905 - 1992 She became a professional singer in 1931; sang on the radio in the South; worked for Al Katz (1933), Tommy Christian (1934), and Mal Hallett (on and off during 1934-1937); and recorded for Decca during 1937-1940, using such sidemen as Bobby Hackett, Jack Teagarden...

    Warm weather hats

Here in Houston I'll wear a felt year round too. Even dark colors since I really only have to go from the house to the car to the studio. If I'm going to be outside for a while I just go with a light color. How often do you even see straw hats in old movies, not very often. Bogart wore felt in...

Anyone remember the stingy brim group from a couple years ago?

I find that one word searches work the best for me, so I just searched "stingy" as a thread title and read down through them until I found it. If you add the word "brim" to the search then you would also get every thread that has just that word in it, and you could imagine how many that would be.

    A cool, classic knife

I use the trusty Kamp-King, in my pocket every day. Got my first when I was a Cub Scout in the 60's. I still have that one but I'm always picking up pristine examples when I can find one. The old ones are good, sturdy knives...they started making really crappy versions of the same knife in the...

Something like a Hollywood jacket would probably work, while not being so "safari" if that's a consideration. I have a few vintage Pendleton jackets that are a thin, open weave of wool that work in all but the most humid conditions. Here's one of mine and some other examples:

    I want your flight jacket!

Pretty much everything we collect was probably just ho-hum every stuff to the good people of the golden age. "Wow, look at that stapler!" I bet that us 21st Century folk collect more than anyone else in history–too much time and disposable income...added to the fact we can look back at...

    What are you wearing today??

You would be surprised how many dads came to the dance in jeans and t-shirts...then again maybe you wouldn't after all. :(
