    Nutty Neighbors

They were keeping me awake with the (bad) music. [Its badness is secondary to it being on in the first place after 9PM in contravention to the (very, very sensible) park rules.]

    Old L.A. Photos

Sounds great. I have some non-photographic L.A. postcards from the 1940s that have drawings of buildings on them. Perhaps I'll post those here next.

    Specific Predictions on Style

ya know, I should just move to Italy. I love that country in general, anyway, the food, the antiquities, the people, the architecture, the easy and pleasant language, the Roman connection, the food, the food, and the food.

    Vodka

Thanks for the suggestions -- I'll look for them. I think you are right. Polish vodka is lovely. Also there is the low-priced (at Trader Joe) Monopolowa which is made by Poles in France. Very nice for the price -- not in the category of the others you mention, though.

Well, at least he had a "better half." Seriously, if he had been unmarried there might have been no civilizing or softening influence on him whatsoever.

That sounds right. I am not an expert on these matters, though.

    Nutty Neighbors

I just had some nutty neighbors this weekend, on Saturday night in fact, whilst camping. The wife and daughter and I went camping on Lake Sonoma. Alas, the next FIVE campsites on our arm of the lake ("Quicksilver Campsite") were occupied by a horde of college kids who PLAYED MUSIC FROM A RADIO...

    Vodka

It's a happy drink. Another infusion I have seen and tasted at a bar called Olive in SF's lovely, lovely Tenderloin (on Larkin Street, I believe) is pear infused vodka. This had lots of pears sitting in it in a big glass tank. It was astoundingly delicious chilled. The little bits of pear...

    Men wearing make-up

In the 1980s when I was a bleach-blond punk rocker I allowed my girlfriend, a licensed cosmetologist, to put black eyeliner on me when we went to gigs. The problem was, in L.A., there was a punk gang (the 1980s L.A. punk scene was hugely infested with gangs / organized into gangs, however you...

Demography, as so often, is the answer. Plus (un)regulation. People are legally free to move anywhere they want in this nation, and lots of them moved to Southern California. Property is purchased and developed, buildings built on it, houses and apartments rented and sold. People either vote...

Answer already noted in FIRST POST! (he said, snottily, fingering his monocle). But seriously, that's all I know. Probably postcards. You can easily drag them onto your desktop and post them on other places, use them for wallpaper, etc. They certainly deserve to be seen!

Thanks, Jenny. Reseda Blvd from Devonshire (I did live in the San Fernando Valley for a couple of years -- this is truly hard to imagine since that place is such a hellhole now)

    Old L.A. Photos

My friend's mother's old friend gave him these and he emailed them to me. I am assuming that they are old postcards. Santa Monica about 1900 Broadway, Glendale 1920 Venice Beach 1920 I am assuming this is Venice, 1910s or 1920s -- not sure. I'll post more soon.

Might someone start a thread on male eyebrow care? I do not know where to start. (I do possess tweezers, so that's something of a pre-start.)

It looks that way, I agree. Maybe, as another poster stated, a tiny novelty market for ties will remain, but that's all.

    Vodka

Homemade Flavored Vodkas (Infused) Over the past two years, my wife has been making her own infused vodkas. She buys decorative glass jars and infuses the beverage in the jar itself, and then puts a ribbon around the neck of the jar and makes a homemade label, and they make nice gifts...
