    Why leather soled dress shoes?

It is an assault on the senses.

    Why leather soled dress shoes?

I don't like slipping and sliding. If I could find glue-on rubber pads, let's say rubber circles an inch in diameter, and I could glue two or so onto the leather soles, I'd wear my leather-soled shoes more often.

    Cloak

I like what I see. I can imagine wearing one. I would feel strange about wearing a black one. Maybe a brown one like the Austrian outdoorsman.

    HATS OFF TO LOUNGE FATHER'S

My dad is 87. I hope he won't pass away soon. He tells me he never wore hats much, even in the old days. That sounds strange to me, but who knows.

    Childhood Fears

Dismemberment. A constant obsession of mine. Not an erotic obsession (look up "apotemnophilia" if you want to see something unpleasant) but a fear obsession. I specifically was afraid of losing my hand -- even more specifically, my right hand. A grinning psychopath cutting it off just to watch...

    What are you wearing today??

Very nice. It makes the fine photo even more interesting. I like the way you think, Chad. I think this (post-factum narrations of the photos on this thread) should be done more.

    Old L.A. Photos

Inky, those are great. too bad they load so slowly. If you wanted to post them on this thread, that would be marvelous. That's so funny to see the Panorama City sign in the 1950s ... I had a dear friend who lived out there in the 1980s with her grandparents, and it was a hellhole then ...

Thanks, gents. Say, Widebrim (I hope to meet you one day at Jon Eugenio's house) you wouldn't consider taking a shot of that precise intersection in Glendale today, would you? It would be nice to have before-and-after shots side by side. But I suppose it would work best if you got the exact...

    HELP ... WHERE to start?

Start by looking through your wardrobe and seeing what you already have that fits the bill, and then look for what you are missing. Deckard has posted a Basic Wardrobe Primer somewhere that is useful as a list. It is a sticky in perhaps the General Attire and Accoutrements (sorry, I have to...
