    I do that too sometimes.

Leo's hair looks pretty close. Less goo. The female's hair looks nothing like that, but am I mistaken to think that considerable variation existed in the late 1950s?

    Bad repro looks

In this photo, what precisely in their haircuts is anachronistic to the late 1950s?

Which elements from this photo do you see that postdate the late 1950s?

All true and well-thought out; but it seems to me that period films have become more accurate as time has gone by. More attention. (It still bugs me how few hats were worn in L.A. Confidential, though.)

Ugh. Bonnie and Clyde's chubby kid sidekick in the Mia Farrow film. He had long hair in back under his cap. Painful. Just painful. I would post a pic, but it's too horrible to behold.

    Show Us Your OVERCOATS

What ravishing overcoats! I had not seen this thread before. I have at least three of vintage interest and I'll post soon. Always good to remember: high summer is a fine time to buy vintage overcoats, especially from the smaller antique/vintage/thrift stores since they need the space for...

Shelley, the deco peep hole door is the bomb. It looks not only art deco but kind of 1920s Futurist. How big is it?

Vintage 1940s dark blue DB score on Ebay

What is your size? 44L? Sometimes Julie/Pdxvintagette/FabGabsVintage finds those. There is a brown chalk stripe DB in my dreams as well. Does a green chalk stripe DB exist?

Vintage 1940s dark blue DB score on Ebay

But if I were to go down to a 34 waist, I'd have to get all my suits adjusted ... I have about 40 suits (most not vintage, needless to say). This could get expensive. I think I'll stay at a 36 waist. Maybe go down to 35; that would be no big deal on the wardrobe, no adjustments necessary.

Thanks Marc, Justin. I only hope that the alterations will work out. Otherwise I have to lose weight and visit Procrustes.

The Demise of the Summer Suit

Linen summer suit Just received Paul Fredrick's DB linen summer suit, brown pin stripes, "natural" color (kind of oatmeal). Trousers are getting cuffed at the tailor's now. Will post pics when all is ready.

    What is it?

Ladies and Gentlemen, Anon` and I found this in an antique shop in Vancouver, Washington. Can anyone help me to identify it? I include this photo as well not to show how damn handsome I am, but only for a sense of the scale of the item:
