    My Edwardian dress arrived (pics!)

Oh just a correction, my major was just fashion, not fashion history. I would have probably stayed in the program if it was fashion history.

    My Edwardian dress arrived (pics!)

Thanks Emmababy!! :) Lauren, I did two semesters at The Acadamy of design and technology in Tampa, Florida, I lived down in FL for two years for school, but am native californian. :) I love fashion, and especially fashion history, probably even more then today's fashion. I really wish I could...

    My Edwardian dress arrived (pics!)

My original major in school was fashion history, and I spent a year at fashion school, before I found out that I can't operate a sewing machine, how ever hard I try ( we just don't get a long) and that I don't want to design clothing. I then switched my major to communications, which as a...

That blouse is really beautiful, Jitterbug, the color of it will go nicely with your blonde hair. I would say just pair it with a simple skirt or some vintage 1940's slacks and you could wear it any time.

Do or don't: Full on vintage.

I find this problem too, I am not so big in the bust ( More like a C, but it's 32) but I am 5'3 and have a small waist, hips and ribcage, so most vintage clothing unless it's Victorian is often too big on me. It's a pain in the behind to have to alter everything :( too bad they didn't make...

    A 1940's Hair style from a 1930's bob?

    Thanks Jitterbugdoll! :)

    My Edwardian dress arrived (pics!)

I think after looking at those pics, I would still have to say it's earlier, about 1912-1914, just because it is about floor length. I e-mailed a pic of the dress to a aquaintance of mine in London who has worked for a museam there for 15 years as a fashion historian, and he dated it about...

Do or don't: Full on vintage.

What do you think? What if your whole outfit is vintage, the shoes, the dress, the hat, the bag...is this a must for you, or is it a don't for you? If you do like full on vintage, do you stay within one or two eras in an outfit, or branch out into several?

    1940's shoes.

Can someone post some good pictures of 1940's shoes? I just would like to see if I can wear my 1930's shoes with my 1940's dress.

    My Edwardian dress arrived (pics!)

Thank you! :) Just guessing from the era, when they were still pretty conservative with colors ( I date this dress to probably 1912-1914) it was probably something someone would have worn if they were in mourning or for a funeral, because the dress is all black. That's probably why it is in...

    My Edwardian dress arrived (pics!)

My edwardian dress arrived, the one I had the previous post about here it is (sorry for the quality of the pictures, I took them myself) I was trying to make this one look like an old photo. The dress is a little big on me, but you get the point :)

1944 Hats, bags, gloves and sleepwear etc(Eaton Catalog)

Great stuff, especially the hats. Too bad they arn't for sale today :( It's also nice to see that models back then also looked like regular women, not anorexic stick figures.

    The Femme Fatale look

I love the look of the femme fatale from the noir movies, that very sophisticated of lady, how does one achieve this look ( beside for carrying a gun in your vintage handbag)?, it is makeup, acssessories, a certain dress?

    A 1940's Hair style from a 1930's bob?

1940's hair style from a 1930's bob? Ok....so I started off with the 1920s have gone into the 1930's, but have decided I have to have atleast one dress that is 1940's just to be kosher, the problem is, I've got a 1930's/1920's bob, very Louise Brooks sans the bangs. What can I do with my hair to...
