Well thank you. I actually wasn't that thrilled with The Good German. Didn't really look like classic Hollywood cinematography to me. An interesting film however.
I'm sure I'll come up with something. I've even considered dressing my living room to look like a lobby, but we'll see.

Yeah I liked the look of the Tokarev but it is easy to confuse for a 1911 or a Browning hi power, which the TT-33 is supposedly a copy of, at least mechanically.
I'm hoping it will be eventually. I'm going to try and get it into some film festivals and see if I can get a distributor. Not sure...
In my opinion two of the best serials are The Masked Marvel (1943) and Spy Smasher (1942) Both WW2 themed one fighting Nazis and the other the Japanese. The director of both serials later went on to direct many episodes of the Disney Zorro show in the late 1950s.
They are both hard to find...
I needed extras about 8 months ago. At this point I have one scene left to shot, and I'm having a hard time finding a location for it.
The pistol is a 9mm Tokarev tt33. The film takes place in 1953 and he is a communist spy.

I'm a fan of Altec Lansing speakers. Back in the 30s and 40s almost every movie theater built used Altec Lansing speakers. I still use original Old Spice after shave and I use William's shaving soap and a shave brush.

Thank you for your comments. Thats amazing that he had Hurrell's actual equipment. I'd love to see your portraits.
These photos were more of a lighting test and to see if I could get the tone of the b&w correct with a digital camera more than anything else. Part of it is also a test for a...
Atterbury,
Thanks for the welcome.
These were shot with a Canon Rebel XTI digital SLR, and a fixed focal length 50mm lens. They were actually shot in color, and I used a Photoshop plugin called Virtual Photographer to render it in black and white and add just a bit of film grain. I also added...
I just discovered this place and WOW, great idea!
I'm a photographer and one of my heroes is George Hurrell. Hurrell is one of the most famous Hollywood portrait photographers from the Golden Age. I recently tried doing some portraits in that style and thought folks here might appreciate them...
