I’d not heard him do that one. I like a lot of Gordon Lightfoot songs, but I’ll have to say this is one song where the “cover” is every bit as good as the original.
RIP, Mr. Rice, you certainly contributed to the greater good while you were here.
I fail to see how an "incest joke", as you call it, belongs in a "Clean Joke" thread. I'm not a Texan, but I don't know how they or anyone else with a sense of decency would find an "incest joke" "clean". I think a lot of folks here were hoping that this was just a matter of poor translation...
Thank you, JustinW and MrFrown, much appreciated.
Indeed, it's the instep fit that has me buffaloed. I have a high/full instep that requires a "close instep" adjustment withn most White's boots. I don't know how to translate that to a boot that will slip on and off, but still be snug when worn...
Those are some great looking boots - I've wanted a pair just like that for some time but getting a good fit on engineers by mail-order is intimidating.
I think that's just about the perfect make-up in my opinion. Do you feel that the MP toe cramps your feet any? And would you post a couple of...
That's impressive (but with Rick, not surprising). I think we share the trait that we will spend more on tools to do a specialty job than it would cost to have someone else just do it. But now we have the tools and ability to do it ourselves the next time for "free". I don't know if you call...
Invariably, whenever Ray Wylie Hubbard is mentioned, I think of Jerry Jeff Walker’s intro to Up Against the Wall Redneck Mother: “This song was written by Ray Wylie Hubbard...”. :D
I'm not familiar with Todd Snider, but being a fan of older outlaw country, I'll have to give him a listen. I'll have to say, though, it's hard for me to take a man's hat seriously when he's wearing it with fingernail polish... ;)
Interesting observations. I would only differ in that I believe that “journalism” has belonged on the trash heap for years, but lately the pile is much larger and smells infinitely worse than it used to.
Tom Selleck can wear a hat! Excellent movie, and an exceptional book that does a great job of documenting the passing (for the most part) of a way of life.
Nice hats, gentlemen! I'm glad to see that Rick is still finding time to turn out fine hats occasionally, with all of the other things he's into. Every time I see one of his hats I get a craving, but with three that he's built for me, two Gannons, and a small handful of Akubras and Resistols, I...
I’ve read that some folks use their blades for only a few shaves, but I usually get 3 weeks or more out of a blade before it starts dragging. I’ve learned not to use it past that point - the economy is not worth it! Maybe the type of shaving soap affects blade life, I don’t know.
They used to...
That's too bad, that's a good-looking pair of boots. That's why I only have a couple of pair of pull-on boots, though, and why I almost never wear them. I have a really tall/full instep, and making the boot big enough to get my foot into it causes it to have a really loose/sloppy hold on the...
The Feather blades are very sharp, but once I got used to DE shaving they became my favorite by far. They require a light touch and NO sideways slips or roughhousing, or you'll bleed! But if you carefully learn how to use them, I think you'll like them.
I use them with Mitchell's Wool Fat...
