    Show us your Guns!

The 1911 is a great gun, and Springfield builds fine ones. You made a good choice. And the 1911 certainly looks at home with a fedora!

The Non Shorpy Web All Stars.

No doubt about it, it was the horses’ fault! ;)

    Musician's hats

I always liked Randy - he seemed to be a quiet guy that just enjoyed playing music. I believe he’s had a rough time the last few years since the death of his wife.

    Musician's hats

He looks like he's aged better than most musicians of that era. Don Felder and Joe Walsh look like they're doing okay, too.

Well, if the wife approves, then of course you must buy the hat! :D Looks good on you.

Post a Picture of the Sky!

The quiet of the morning is the icing on the cake to go with a beautiful sunrise. The dark before the dawn and the breaking is definitely my favorite time of day. But then I've been an early riser and early traveler almost my whole life. Great idea for a thread!

    Western, anyone?

    I don't think that's smokeless poweder you're shootin'! ;) Neat photo.

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

Super-singles in this area were once on a surge, but the lack of sidewall stiffness seems to have left them to only a few applications here in the mountains. Still see them a fair bit on long-haul tractors passing through, but I'm not sure what the national trend is? As far as...

Feet Up! The Work Boot Thread

I like how those turned out, too, with the varying shades of brown. What type of dye did you use? Any "before" photos?

    Your favorite movie quotes

That was a hilarious scene. Maybe not the best scene of the movie ;), but that was a funny one. In fact, most of Spicoli's scenes were pretty darn funny. I can't help but think of a young Joe Walsh (from the Eagles) and some of his shenanigans when I'm watching Spicoli.

    The Resistol Roundup

Nice find, Brent. Those high-crowned Resistols are my favorite "factory" hat - well made, of the right proportion for big heads, and still common enough that I don't feel too bad "tweaking" them. ;)

    Show us their hats!

Not the best view of his hat, but the best I could find.

    Show us their hats!

Yes, "The Highwaymen" was a great movie - a nice break from all the fantasy action crap that's being produced these days. Like you, I'm not a "fan" of Bonnie and Clyde, and certainly don't think they were heroes of any sort. You might still find "Go Down Together" interesting, though. It does...

    Old gas stations

I'm pretty sure that photo has been colorized and maybe even doctored a little further. On blow-up, that sure looks like green gravel, and some of the greens in the trees are off, and the two D-X signs don't match. The margins around the closer sign look suspiciously sharp. Regardless, it's a...

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

We always called it "Magic Tape" growing up - it seems to me that it was once labeled that way on the green Scotch label. Not sure where the "mending" part came from, but it does make sense.

Photographs Of Hats Fresh From Surviving The Elements

Most of the fishermen I know, don't catch and still tell (tales). ;) Me, I'm completely honest about all my fishing experiences. :D

Haha! It's a strange world these days, when good boots are cheaper than a box of ammo! Nice find!

    Phoenix Hat Company

Good news, Rick, thank you. I'm real curious to see how the hemp hats shape up. For some reason I can't explain, I've never developed a taste for Milan hats, even though I do admire the work that goes into them. I guess my straw hat expectations were developed at an early age by all the cheap...
