How do folks react to your hat wearing?

Mostly people just smile, like Bob Roberts mentioned early on. I just smile and give a nod hello back to them. Family members say 'nice hat', 'looks good on you'. Now friends...old friends...those people that used to be closer...well, that's where the nasty stuff comes from. Some of them...

    Post New Hats Here!

Wow, Fruno...'great' find and perfect timing. Congrats! You wear it well. I love the ribbon. I guess the gut never lies. Andy

Not sure I would want a hat with a visor like that, but I really love that distinctive weave/straw. They look like well made hats. Andy

DOH! My mistake. I re-read your post and it is clear on the label. It's always fun when there are a few matches, but still a cool additional piece. I enjoy collecting little things like that. Andy

    Stetson Stratoliner Milan {modern}

I generally like a wider ribbon, but I do like this hat. Thanks for posting the image. I keep hoping someone will have them near me so I can try one on, due to the limited sizing. So far, I've only seen it at JJ's. Did you find yours locally? I wonder why other shops that carry Stetson don't...

Great old hat Alan. Looks like it was created just for you. Rossen-ized, love that, but you mention a label. Do you mean the little round tag inside? Because the second image is surely a matchbook, no? Was that in the hat? Any matches left in it? Very cool find indeed. Yeah, you need to wear...

Mine still smells, thankfully. :D LOL! Me too. This mention of sulfur makes me wonder. On the Optimo site, they point out that no sulfur is used in the finishing of their Montecristi hats. Other than the smell, would someone be able to look at and feel two hats and know which one was...

    Hat traditions ?

Moon, having and not removing your grandfather's fifty dollar bill from his Strat is very cool! This really isn't a tradition along the lines that you're talking about, but it was an ongoing thing we enjoyed. In the '60's, my dad, uncle cousin and I used to go to some Blackhawk hockey games...

    Heather and Yon...

I'm really liking this look, especially the Dobbs Gay Prince. I like that edge treatment (stitching). The ribbon is interesting in that it's much like the one that came on my Havana Panama hat (No bow. Just that small loop). Great hats and images too, Alan. Andy

    Crazy Hat Cleaning Situation

Wow, good for you CITH. It almost started sounding like one of those situations where the more you try, the worse it would looks. Glad it worked out. Your hat could almost have been pictured in the 'Photographs Of Hats Fresh From Surviving The Elements' thread. <ahem> :) Maybe it would have...

Pros and Cons of Inner Cloth or Leather Hat Sweat Band

Good point. This Montecristi might be a little too floppy without the leather sweatband. Andy

Pros and Cons of Inner Cloth or Leather Hat Sweat Band

I had debated this when choosing between a Montecristi Panama and a less expensive Cuenca with a cloth sweatband. I felt that the cloth would be more comfortable, but now I had a thought that the slight stickiness (for lack of a better word) of a moist leather sweatband might help keep it on my...

    Panama Hat Thread

Yes I did and also your PM. Thanks! I'm really happy with this hat. My wife likes it better than my fedora. I think she likes it because the crown is not as high. Funny thing...I 'love' that sulfur smell. How about you? Does anyone hate that smell? I'll post a picture this weekend. Andy

Alan, handsome hat. It has a couple of things my Montecristi does not, a wider brim and that mesh/satin lining. I like the wider brim like yours. I'll look for that on my next one. It looks fine. Andy

What hat are you waiting for today?

Yup, same for me while waiting for my Panama hat. It went to Fl. from Ecuador and then right past me in IL. to Milwaukee WI. I saw it on tracking and I'm saying, "Whoa, whoa...Shane, come baaack." LOL! Andy

What hat are you waiting for today?

I should be getting my replacement Havana Panama hat by the end of the week (ordered wrong size). Andy

That's what I chose too, but there was no bow. Just a loop where the bow would be. I thought it was just the style, but maybe the bow 'was' missing after all. We'll see when the replacement shows up. Your hat looks great on you. Good choice. Andy

I'm glad your PHD fedora showed up. You are obviously better at ordering the correct size than I am. :eusa_clap Nice looking hat. I see the fedora has a bow. The Havana (which I ordered), does not...unless it was missing. Who knows. My replacement should come in at the end of the week. Andy

    Recommend a Panama ...

I was a bit surprised by that. Probably wouldn't work for me either. I'm kind of a 'tweener. I would certainly have to see one locally to try on, rather than risk extra shipping charges due to improper fit. Andy
