How interesting. I'll have to pick up the book. Was just reading somewhere else the other day about medics (doing some research for an impression) and how most PTO medics carried weapons while ETO medics did not.
Hi there! I'm not as familiar with the civilian nursing uniforms, although I imagine they can't be much different - but take a look at this site which is very detailed about uniforms for the different women's service organizations.
Not that I did a dance or anything in the library after winning it.
Note to self: must remember that librarians will ask you to leave if you're too loud.
Gosh, I'm so sorry! I hope your pup will be ok. I'll second what KD said - have you tried contacting the ASPCA ? Also, try the Animal Legal Defense Fund or their main page here.
And a couple more links that hopefully can help:

I just want to post a pic of my newest pattern - one which I've been searching for awhile now and just won off ebay a little bit ago, so I'm quite excited about it.
Well, I carry a teeny tiny purse (if one at all) normally - but when vintaged out:
-compact
-lipstick
-lip gloss (addict!)
-hankie
-hairpins
-snood
-cell phone (when it's not permanently attached to my ear)
-credit cards, id & whatever money I might be blessed with at the time)...
Ditto! I'd love to see everyone else's patterns. Lauren and I spend so much time searching/buying/ooh and ahhing over patterns. . .can't hurt to spend some more time, right?
Well, the thing that I find with girdles and other 'foundation' pieces - is that it's just that, a foundation for your clothes. From personal experience, I find clothes of the period fit smoother and hang better with the right underpinnings. You will also tend to reflect that support in how...
Snoods are the most wonderful hair accessory ever. (Well, in my opinion)
They were used to keep hair in curlers for the day for an evening 'do, or to keep hair from catching in machinery or just as a quick cover-all for those not so great hair days.
You can pick them up at local...
Thank you all! Sorry I just noticed this tonight. Got back from a vacation last night and hadn't slept for two days - so needless to say, I went straight to sleep.
Thanks again. And Lauren, I adore the magazine cover. Best present ever.
Just a point - you're not 'required' to wear a particular era. So don't feel that you have to conform to the 'I must wear 40's' thing. Lots of people are in modern evening & day clothing, as well as other popular era's like the 30's & 50's. That being said, I believe there is one formal...
Daisy, I think you have enough clothes for 3 QM trips. Everytime I blip onto FL to check new messages, I'm always wondering "oooh, I wonder if Daisy's bought anything else & put up some more yummy pictures!" I can't wait to see what you'll be decked out in this November. :)
