Several times over the last few weeks when I've been on our tram line with my daughter in her pram young men have offered me their seat (or offered to help me take them pram down some stairs) - chivalry is also not dead here in Dublin I am glad to report!
Thank you Blackthorn! I forgot to mention that all the gents were beautifully turned out and all donning straw boaters. There were lots of cool events on in Dublin for Bloomsday - hopefully some year I will join in in all the fun (once I remember when it's taking place of course!).
Thanks Story! I completely forgot about Bloomsday but was out in Monkstown on Saturday (in County Dublin) and came across a bunch of chaps (mostly) who were standing outside one of the pubs singing Danny Boy (beautifully), all drinking wine and eating kidneys (or was it liver - I couldn't say!)...
My Grandfather was in the DMP and whilst doing some family research we discovered that he is mentioned in Ulysses by James Joyce:
“I was just passing the time of day with old Troy of the D.M.P. at the corner of Arbour hill there and be damned but a bloody sweep came along and he near drove...

Thanks Rue - cannot wait to move in!
My husband's favourite tipple! I think Glenfiddich does smell rather good but could never drink the stuff in a million years. In my twenties, when I was ill with the flu my Mum used to make me a small hot Whiskey - I mean a dribble at the bottom of a cup...
True! There was a great deal on the Champagne so there's another one chilling in the fridge as I type!
The move itself won't happen until Saturday - all the pre-move stuff has yet to start (yikes!) - your good wishes are appreciated - thank you! Will post some photos in the "Your Vintage...
You look lovely C-dot - it suits you to a t! I'm not sure if I said it to you before but you really remind me of Bild Lilli (I'm sure you've heard that loads of times!!!!!!)....
