Just got through reading GANGSTER SQUAD. It is the book that the new movie is based on. It is a very good read if you are interested in that time period of LA from the late 1940's through the early 1960's.

Kilroy, that is a beautiful M-1 Carbine. I have one that was built in 1944 by Inland.
CSG that is also a sweet looking 1911.
I just inherited a Eddystone built Enfield 1917 in 30-06. I will have to post some pictures later when I get a chance.
I know what you mean about that scene. I think every male in the audiance was squirming at that, but that part stayed true to the book. Hope you enjoy the movie.
I too saw it last night. All I can say is wow. It is one of the best Bond flicks to come out in a while. I want to say more, but I do not want to spoil it for those who have not seen it yet.
Just to add my two cents worth. I too do not like a super high crown and when I bashed my Fed IV I went with a C-crown with straight sides.

Good luck on your decision.

I loved "Bring Em Back Alive" and the "Tales of the Gold Monkey". I know both shows came out after Raiders and were riding on the coat tails so to speak, but both were good shows. I know Gold Monkey is on DVD, not sure about Bring em' Back Alive.

Here is another photo of Jelly Bryce and other OKC officers dealing with the Wilbur Underhill capture. Bryce is kneeling in the front row with a "Tommy Gun" and brown fedora

Here is a photo of legendary FBI Agent Jelly Bryce with Bill Jordan. Bryce started his career as an Oklahoma City Police Officer back in the 1930's.
The Gentleman next to Frank Hammer is Henderson Jordan, the uncle of famed Border Patrol Officer Bill Jordan. On a side note Bill Jordan was instramental in getting the Smith and Wesson Model 19 developed.
Wearing my Akubra Stylemaster due to the rain. The straws just do not do well in the rain. Looking forward to some cooler weather so I can break out my other felts.

I finally got to see it on Wednesday. I liked it. I think they did a great job capturing Appalachia in the late 1920’s and early 1930’s. I loved the book and the movie did condense some things for the sake of continuity but they did a great job. Now waiting for Boardwalk Empire Season 3 to begin.
I discovered OTR when I was a kid and got my first cassette player for Christmas. I went to the public library and discovered some OTR tapes of the Green Hornet, The Shadow, Dragnet, and Boston Blackie. I was hooked. It was great how you got to use your imagination while listening. I now enjoy...
Not to cofuse the issue, but have you thought about the Akubra Stylemaster? It does have a 2 1/2 inch brim that is bound and comes pre bashed. I am 6' 205 lbs and wear a size 48 jacket and the hat works well for me. I do not get to wear a suit much and use mine for both casual and dress. It does...
