Man....this is a great thread....brings back too many memories...I need to revisit these films...
As a kid 'The Roaring 20's' was an all-time fav....Man , Cagney's suits are tailored to perfection here and that Homburg is rockin'...Makes a good argument for a Homburg with shallow side dents...
My Favorite...Kenny Dorham....
The tune: Windmill
The rhythm section, same as "Bluetrane" and same year,1961.

Alan Ladd and Al Pacino were both around 5'6" I believe...some sources say Ladd was 5'5"...But most don't think of them as very short...and Bogart for that matter was 5'8"....if the height for Cagney is really 5'6 1/2"...then there is only 1 1/2 in. difference....sure looks like more in that...
I think this guy is sincere...He spent a long time as the suffering musician and now he's making great bread and a little over-zealous in catching up maybe....But what obviously started as in infatuation with the music has grown to an infatuation to creating his own time-zone....and he has the...
When you tried it on for your family, was it open crowned......
If it was, then thats you answer....Put a nice crease in it, like that VS with the Maltese Falcon crease....They will probably love it....I would...:)
Hey man...when I lived in Boston, if I handed it to a maitre d' or hostess and said "Take good care of it"...I'd be surprised if it looked the same when I got it bacl...lol....Maybe it I handed them a $20 too...they might set it on a table in the kitchen...lol
But I see you're from...
Me aswell.....But the good news is, if 'Bottom-Line" Disney....Is considering a 'Fedora Store'...Their market analyists must think theres a market thats not just a passing fad...of course there is not much for sale in their parks of real quality, as the rat must make his 800% profit...
He was a wonderful craftman, with true talent.....and he was very insightful...a pleasure to share ideas...

Frank Sinatra on the cover of 'Life' magazine from April 1965 says yes by example....:)
I also read on the Baron's Hats web-site that Sinatra; when he had a new suit...

:eeek:....LOL....You killin' me...I hear that....I'm the same way, JB ....lol
I also love the homburg....My first, and only dress hat; for years; was a black homburg, which regretably,I no longer have...
But from the sound of things, I must not be a 'Homburg Purist' as I dig the university...
I'm in absolute agreement with JB....So instead of the new Americans using their brains more and their heads becoming larger...apparently the opposite is true....They are using their brains so much less that their brains are becoming out of shape and over-weight and there-fore their heads are...
Most likely from the lack of wearing hats....Heads left to grow without the proper support that a good hat gives...now after several generations...are showing the evolutionary affect...If we don't start wearing hats again as a species...who knows where it will end...lol....:eeek:
All kidding...
I saw a picture; here at the lounge I believe, from back in the day at Baltimore's Memorial Stadium....It appears every year at a baseball game, the anouncer would declare when it was time to switch from winter hats to summer hats, and everyone would put their fist through the crown of their hat...
Chief....You are one natural hat model...and all the hats I've seen you wear look so good on you....You've got my vote for the cover of the Fedora Lounge Coffee Table book....:)
When I was growing up there were too many Crosby albums around my house for me to have a favorite...'Moonlight Becomes You", "Swinging From a Star", some of the 'up' things like "Dinah" and "Pennies From Heaven"are maybe the first to pop into mind....And Bob Crosby and the Bob Cats were also big...
