I've heard a few people say that every decade fits every body type if you get the right outfit, and that it is nonsense to pick your favourite era according to shape, but I completely disagree. Even nowadays I find most women look terrible in low-cut skinny jeans, because they simply look best...
Not sure if this is a gentleman-only thread (?), but I would never ever wear bobby socks (or any socks) with a dress or skirt. Despite the authenticity it is the one look I just don't like and have never gotten used to. I'm also not a big fan of saddle shoes, though I do love brogues. I also...
I know it is really exciting, but I wouldn't count on finding too many deals in London itself - it is hopelessly overpriced! I assume you only have a bit of time, but if you do any trips outside of London you may have a better chance of finding affordable vintage. It could be a bit of a culture...
What a great story!
I got given a handcrank Singer by my husband's great aunt and it has been dated to 1903. It's currently sat in my sewing room and I have been too afraid to try and restore it myself, but you've inspired me.
I'm sure your grandmother would be very happy to know you value her...
I recently found a plaid pair at H&M. Did Bana Republic's Mad Men collection have them?
Otherwise there are a few repro companies who do them. Bernie Dexter, Freddies, Vivian of Holloway all have some I think.
That is true! Since I started wearing only dresses or skirts a few years ago my husband has completely changed his style and sometimes comes out already looking nice but then goes back to change again as he considers himself looking scruffy next to me. It has even spread to some of our friends...
Despite not wearing shorts as much, men in the UK tend to take their shirts off whenever the first sunray hits and/or it hits 14 degrees C and above- I've lived here for seven years and it still drives me insane. Who wants to push past pasty, half naked men in the middle of town? Especially...
Oh no! I adore them :( I actually found a 1950s winter coat in a charity shop for £12 last winter, and it still looks luxurious after all these years. I always thought they'd go the way of Burberry and get a trendy young designer to update them again.
^I don't think there is any reason to drug the poor pup yet, as he hasn't really tried anything else. My cat is currently on anti-anxiety meds (which are actually human drugs, but are being used on cats) after we have tried everything else, for two years. He's just started, but I am thinking of...
It sounds as though he's really bored. If you are going to leave him, make sure he has had a good walk (at least 45 mins, and not just in the backyard, as they need mental stimulation as well). He should be walked at least twice a day regardless, unless they are old or ill. A really tired dog...
I agree, there is a difference between offering constructive criticism to someone IF they asked for advice. There are quite a few outfits I see every day that don't appeal to me personally, or which I think could be improved, but it would never occur to me (and most people it seems) to offer...
I know many of you hate tights and especially leggings, but I was just told about these and they look like such a great solution to my winter woes!

Cherry Lips - love the orange blouse!
Miss Golightly - what a great colour combination for spring, screams Easter dress to me!
ETA: Oops, just saw it reminds you of Easter as well :)
I think I'm getting too old for high fashion...

^Exactly! I miss people actually having nice travel outfits which were nicer than their everyday clothes. When I mentioned my "Going Away dress" for my honeymoon my friends looked at me as though I had three heads.
Having said all that, I think there is a visible contrast between North...
^Oh yes,I nearly forgot about some people having to travel in sleepwear since one needs to be comfortable at all times, especially during something so stressful...
I have never been uncomfortable on a plane, even in daywear and despite long haul flights or 12 hour delays, so it makes me wonder...
