I thoroughly enjoyed Night Over Water and the scenes on the Clipper in particular. I fly in and out of Marine Air Terminal in NYC whenever I go home and used to love it as a kid for flights on the little puddle jumpers...
The Silver Mistress by Peter O'Donnell. One of the Modesty Blaise novels.
I'm not sure when his option expires on them but I had hoped to see Tarantino make at least one Modesy Blaise movie. The fourty minute film someone shot on his behalf, to keep the rights, was wonderful and I'd love to...
After a nap we made up a batch of spiced coffee with a splash of brandy and I filled my pipe McClelland Christmas Cheer.
The recovery from a wonderful New Year's dinner and celebration with the restaurant's owners and staff continues slowly.
The cigars did indeed come in individual wooden boxes, quite a bit nicer than many boxes we have seen. I don't keep track as much as I used to but I seem to remember the Opus X (originally only one cigar?) was very hard to find so the manager at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor would call us to...
Kermez - I had no idea they were so hard to find, or expensive! We have a local tobacconist who has incredible access to some hard to find items so I assume our friends bought/ordered them through them.
I will spend extra from time to time for events and I feel that my go to cigars are...
We each received two Fuente Fuente Opus X Perfecxion A cigars last night and enjoyed one this afternoon after a late lunch. They seem to be richer and smoother tasting that other Opus X's that I have smoked. Before and after firing, the Perfecxion A treated me to all of the aromas that I will...
I may be joining you, again, soon. For nearly six years I had no television and had no desire to buy one. Then the women in my life (girlfriend and mother) ganged up on me for some reason and made me buy a TV and sign up for cable. It has been nearly two years and I am more frustrated each...
I have just received a copy of The Impossible Virgin a Modesty Blaise novel by Peter O'Donnell. I really enjoy the Modesty Blaise novels. I was surprised at how difficult it has been to find a copy of The Impossible Virgin without breaking the bank...
Where are fellow denizens of the lounge purchasing their caps these days? I have been disappointed by the fabric selections from some of my old favourites.
After dinner last night we each enjoyed a L.J. Peretti Co. 125th Anniversary Cigar produced in the Arturo Fuente factory. It is made with the binder and filler of the Fuente Don Carlos but with a Connecticut shade wrapper. A wonderful end to a gluttonous evening.
No cigar today - it was time to break in a newly acquired Dunhill Estate Pipe - an unsmoked root briar pipe with a short round bowl and an interesting shaped stem... (I lack the vocabulary to properly describe my pipes...) The tobacco of the day is called "Tashkent" from LJ Peretti. Its a...
A Taste for Death by Peter O'Donnell. The fourth in the Modesty Blaise Series.
I keep hoping that Tarantino will follow through to make these into movies or sell the rights to someone who will. I loved these books growing up and enjoyed the short film, My Name is Modesty, that he shot in...
I'm getting ahead of myself but I just opened a package from Greece containing White Mischief (in English) without subtitles (perhaps they are an option). The menus are in Greek but the DVD was still in its wrapper when I opened the padded envelope and so far so good.
