I have a jiffy steamer and a Reliable Steam Iron (which broke, bought it used). Loved it when it was working. Agree with the brim press and ASM, $$$$$$.
Tried to make a Sand Bag press, but the sand kept leaking everywhere.
Light on the oil. Areas that were lighter, I would go over several times and press a little harder.
It did come out more even and darker. I was pleased with it. Should have taken a before and after, but then that's hard without proper lighting, etc.
Soaked the Terry cloth in coconut oil and then...
Second Nutria hat. Tried the 2 tier quality. Turned out nice. At first it was a little blotchy, rubbed it down with coconut oil and it even it out and made it slightly darker. Color is natural.
Yes, saw that . Was looking for Western weight and they are only showing a couple.
I did reach out to Tim @ PB to see about ordering the wt and color I need.
Been looking at both. Pure Beaver only show 4 colors available in the 100% beaver, only see 2 on Millinery Warehouse.
Sunrise only have a few of the Nutria, although they said they are expecting a shipment in March.
Purchased a few of the Nutria felts. So far, I like them. This one turned out nice. Price is much lower than the beaver. Starting another one, will keep you posted.
Have you tried the Coypu's from Sunrise Hats? They seem to have more in stock and the price is significantly lower. Just had a couple delivered. Can't find any beaver in a decent color.
Thanks for the reference. I knew I had seen it somewhere and could not remember. I guess nobody is making/selling these anymore. Doesn't look too hard to make, so I will look into it.
Hello Darrell, I'm just now starting the journey. Been researching and purchasing equipment for the last 6 moths. Appreciate all the discussions on here. Learning a lot.
