I actually have one close to that. I wear it when I'm hiking/snowshoeing in the woods when it's below 5°. I go a bit lighter when it gets above that. Mine isn't an expensive one though.

Interesting. That's how my order went down (stock hat). I was able to see the picture and while on the phone, William actually looked at the hat (plus one other one), described it and answered questions about it. I felt that if I ordered again, that would be the only way.

el_ote, that box is absolutely identical to the Stetson box that my grandfather's hat was in when I found it. Although, there was no Stetson inside. It was the Morisson Hats-Famous Fifteen fedora that I have posted about. 'Thrilled' with what I got, but I would have been thrilled with that...
Congrats on the weight loss, but sorry about the hats. I would not have expected the weight loss to change a head size so much.
Definitely try the spacers. I did, but they didn't work. I recently ordered a Panama hat in the wrong size and I was able to fit a finger under the sweat like you...
navarre, Alan, Bob...
I look over your most recent postings here in this thread and I realize that I don't have the creativity that you and others do. I would never have considered any of your ribbon colors (green, reddish, white or even the ventilation as the ribbon). I tend to get stuck in...
Bob, that's a wonderful hat! Love it. I've been wanting something in Hemp for next season. I was looking at pics of the new Hemp Stratoliner, but I would have to try it on due to the sizing. I like it, but I'm just not sure if I want the contrasting edge binding. Yours has such a nice clean...
I can see that now, especially after looking over some of the great recent entries over on the Panama hat thread.
That would 'definitely' draw a reaction of some sort. :-) Nah, our skeeters are so bad here, that I'm usually running home from BBQs, crying like a little girl come evening...
I was just thinking about this regarding all the latest nice comments reported on by Dave, A'n'A, B1ggles, etc., and it seems to me that felt might get the most interesting looks. I mean, from my most recent outings, straw seems to be pretty common. I suppose due to the above mentioned...
I probably will go and certainly will be wearing the Panama. I think you're right on with that last statement. It goes back to that jealousy thing.

I hear ya and agree. I don't care at all that they consider me a fool. I have thick skin, but some of these people just tend to spoil my good time at this event, because it's a constant barrage from them. It gets old after a while. Last year was the first time it was not enjoyable at all and...
See, that's the exact same scenario that I find myself in. I think it must be some form of jealousy. Maybe they see that you enjoy being the individual that you want to be and they don't have the guts to do that in their own lives. Just a thought.

:) He did have some memorable quotes. Coogan's Bluff (Eastwood), where he was an Arizona sheriff operating in NY., spawned the TV show McCloud (Dennis Weaver). In the movie and then the series, the star character wore a cowboy hat and had constant conflict with the chief of police, who wore...
HA! That reminds me of that old Clint Eastwood movie (Coogan's Bluff), where he is an Arizona Ranger in NY. and people keep calling him Tex. He rolls his eyes, sighs and responds softy, "Arizona".
