    Thanks for your answers guys. I'm confused, why is it that all the South American Countries websites I've stumbled across call it a Panama then? 'Colonial' and 'Optimo' style do crop up but the word Panama always does. Is it just that they originate from Panama? and what IS a Panama hat then?

    Well 'gin' or 'vodka' used to be popular because they could use just water. I suspect that cold tea can be used to replicate whisky etc. or apple juice. On Cheers they used some sort of fake beer, in the UK they use real beer in Eastenders and Corrie!

    I'm slightly embarrassed to say I'm not sure. It could be a thick lamb or a light cow... Actually with the weight I'm 90% sure it is cow. Slightly distressed, it has the sort of finish that looks like it will break down easily, like a wax glaze.

    Well, I didn't get a Kakadu, instead I ended up with a Belstaff clone from an ebay seller in the UK, who makes them in Pakistan. £139, made to measure, arrived in 3 weeks. Really very impressed.

    Don't know, the prices are slightly distorted because they don't include VAT so you need to add 15% to get the real UK price. In theory US buyers don't have to pay the VAT, but.... who knows. I've found another cheapo copy if it's just a wax jacket you are looking for, retroretrostyle on ebay...
