I think Lucas considers himself a feminist. There's a few female characters in the Star Wars series, but I think the main reason Leia is so prominent in the original three is that he based Star Wars on the Japanese movie Hidden Fortress, which has just one female character if I remember...
Couple of years late to this party, but I'll crash it anyway. I loved the Indy jacket from the first time I saw it in '81. I'd seen the occasional repro in various mall shops in the late 80s but they just didn't look right and none of them fit me anyway.
I bought a USW steer-hide Legend a few...
#2 combo from one of my favorite restaurants- red enchiladas, green chile con carne, red tamale, refried beans, rice, chips and salsa as an appetizer. Good stuff!

Not a fan of the new Trek. Although I like the actors, I hate the writing. I really disliked how they turned Kirk into a cocky punk and how Spock flies into rages at the drop of a hat. I think they could have stayed a little closer to the source material without it just being an imitation, and...
Speaking as someone born in 1970 and who watched it in the 1970s, I liked all the characters, but the show was always about Kirk and his relationship with Spock and McCoy. I liked the gravitas of the senior officers.

My baby boomer parents weren't into any shows like that either.
My siblings and I grew up watching re-runs (and the cartoons) in the early 70s. While they watched the...
I distinctly remember testing this theory out in 1983. My dad told us kids that'd happen if we left the phone off the hook so naturally we had to test it out the next time we were left alone at home. We left it off the hook for at least 30 minutes but it worked just fine afterwards. So, I guess...
Here's some other swag- my grandmother's ration books, her father's Selective Service Medal for serving in the draft board, and campaign medals belonging to my dad's dad- he was a Seabee.

Here's some of my WWII collection-
The uniform belonged to my grandfather; he was in the Coast Guard prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor. During the war he pulled convoy duty in the Atlantic. The sword is a late-pattern Japanese NCO's shin gunto, and the dagger is a Nazi SA dagger in excellent...
Proraso eucalyptus in a tube. I like it because I can dispense with the mug and lather it up right in the palm of my hand.

Stag. Someone told me they thought the grips actually came from S&W but I don't know if that's true or not. One of these days I'll have it lettered to get its history.
