If you weren't married, I'd make a very uncouth suggestion about spreading the picnic tablecloth under the big maple in my backyard and have a jug of wine, a loaf of bread, and then there's thou...
Oh, dang. Sorry.
I think it looks lovely and perfectly period. The shoes really sell it.
Oh, CRAP.
Tim Burton, you are (un)DEAD to me!
THIS is my Dark Shadows:

And it had the greatest music. Without Colbert's music, it's not Dark Shadows.
Thanks. :)
You know, I'm usually not that... well, okay, I *am* emotional. And living in my folks' old house now has produced more than one misty-eyed, drink-encouraged moment. (An example: although my mom got rid of most of dad's things after he died, she kept his golf shoes, and no matter...
Well, it's here.
In 1945, when dad came home from WW2, he had a Czech "Pistole modell 27" (now generally called a CZ-27). After Germany annexed Czechoslovakia, they took the CZ27 and turned it into the standard side arm of the police and much of the Wehrmacht.
After my dad died in 1967...
Kind of similar sitch here. I've been here for almost a whole year now, and I'm only now starting to get things up on the wall. It took a long time to start thinking of what I want and where I want it (heh...) so I've been taking my time.
Thanks, Matt. I'll have to check that out. (Round, I believe, BTW... it's in the bedroom right now.)
Sometime next week I'll be dismantling it and soaking the bits to get rid of all the cosmoline. I have a gun in aspic right now...

I think Gladstone is planning something.
This is his favorite spot. He sits here and watches cars (and squirrels) go by:
Hey! A SQUIRREL~!
I love this one. I call it "A disturbance in The Force":
I have to admit to a fondness, as well, for "The Nighthawks," and Magritte's "Treachery of Images." I'm ordering a copy of the latter, and thinking about a copy of the former.
It's an 1891/30, stamped "1943." I was at my gun store yesterday, and they had a 1944 model carbine with the attached, hinged bayonet. I should have grabbed it. I called them this morning to ask them to stash it behind the counter for me, but someone else had already snagged it.
Dammit.
Finally broke down and bought my first Mosin-Nagant the other day. Can't wait to try it out. Also grabbed a Ruger SR22 (love to plink) and then there's this new one, a Heritage Big Bore in .45:
I love cowboy wheelies.
I still love Firefly. Sniff.

And then there's the theme from Jeeves and Wooster, which still makes me smile.
