    Engineer Boots, Harness Boots...

I can say that Carolina makes a high quality engineer boot. Several years ago I did something stupid. I dragged my foot going around a gas station on my bike and hit a raised area of concrete with my toe. It sent my foot back into the rear peg, hard. If I had been wearing sneakers or a cheap...

    Levis 501 STF w/white thread & hardware?

I feel the same way. I wish you could just go in and buy a pair of jeans that is "standard". Funny thing about Levi's in general, they are made everywhere now (I counted one day at a store when I was looking and remember 11 or 12 different countries of manufacture). I browsed the clearance rack...

    More important things than politics.

Is he the new intergender champion? I wonder if he had the belt on? ;)

    More important things than politics.

Same here...I definately don't go to late night TV to escape politics. I'll turn on RT at night hoping to catch the KHL scores and look at the Moscow cuties.

A word to men who wear high boots

I wonder if diver's think the same of all the "poser's" wearing Rolex Subs or old pilot vets looking at all the A2s out there?

A word to men who wear high boots

Obviously not tall boots, but I wear my bean boots like the guy on the right a lot during the winter. I hate getting salt on my good boots, so they get used. I also have knee high wellies that I tuck my jeans into depending on how high the snow gets. Last month I actually had snow get over them...

Smoking in my house has been banned since about 1990.

    Bauhaus Fashion?

Assuming the comment was not about the 80's group, I'm sure it was meant to mean modern (in the 1930s idea of modernity). From the books I have looked at regarding the Bauhaus, most of the faculty and students dressed in a simple, "plain" way, however, not in a bad way if that makes sense. More...

    What Happens to Old Towns?

I have family ties to a couple of old towns that have either died, or are dying. I remember a report on CNN a few years ago about illegal drugs in rural America. Since they reported from Lenawee County, Michigan (about 50 miles to the sw of Detroit), I remember the report. Basically, drugs...

JFK and the death of the hat

I think living in California will give you less looks when you are outside the box than say living in Ohio or Michigan. Here anything outside the box will give you a lot of unwanted attention. Anyways, I read the book in question. (No, I didn't buy it...I have this old school thing called a...

Ladies in Vintage Jodhpurs and breeches

That's ok, the Nazis got rid of brown shirts on their own. lol Regarding post WW2, I collect old car advertisements/catalogs. Well into the late 1960s many luxury car ads (ie Imperial or Lincoln) would show a father picking up his wife or daughter or mother picking up her daughter with that...

How many leather jackets do you own!?

Very nice collections. Sounds like some of the members here need to have reinforced closets. ;)

Ladies in Vintage Jodhpurs and breeches

*nods* Equestrian chic always seems to come back around in fashion. The Nazis killed it for men, but at least it remains for the ladies. :)

    Gaspar Gloves

I found this ebay page: http://stores.ebay.com/Gloves-By-Dorothy-Gaspar Not much available now, but maybe most is custom order anyways? Here is Gretchen Mol from the recent Bettie Page movie wearing Gaspar Gloves:

    The Cat's Meow

*nods* And Leatherheads took a long time to get made (I think it was in various stages of production and being shelved for 15 years).

    The Cat's Meow

I believe the film did less than 4 million gross in the US. Probably why we don't get that many quality period pieces, and instead we get blockbuster sequels. :(

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

I watched "The Dreamers" again on IFC last night. What can I say, I have thing for Eva Green. :D The other choice was Hellboy on FX.

    The Cat's Meow

I saw this movie again last night. I thought the pistol was a PPK. I wonder what W.R. actually would have carried? Maybe a Colt .32 in nickel? If he had a 1911 there would have been an exit wound I would think. [huh]
