    OT:Ebay Security

Here is a tip - if you hover your mouse over the link in question, it will usually show a bogus address (usually displaying an IP address instead of the actual URL). Just remember, no one at places like eBay or PayPal will ever ask for your username, password, credit card or other financial...

    question about eBay

I saw a seller who sells XBox 360 video game consoles - they retail in the stores for $399 - the seller had them for $149 with a $249 shipping and handling charge. I bet there were more than a few unsuspecting people that didn't notice that and got sucked in to those auctions.

    Lounger's Map

Well, Dan brought up a good point in his world wide thread. So I created a Frappr Map that any Lounger can join - it is easy and free - just click the Join button and add yourself if you wish. It is a world wide map - so it includes everyone! You can even click and drag the map and use your...

    Steampunk, Dieselpunk, etc.

I am fairly certain the person that made those deco PC's (SlipperySkip) is not the person who made the Steampunk Keyboard on the Steampunk Workshop site. Regards, Matt

Do you use one of those fancy solar dryers?

I guess I am an odd puppy - I love the stiff, scratchy feeling of line dried clothing.

    Ebay sellers' apathy

I won a Dux Episkop bakelite projector near the beginning of July. I paid immediately after the auction was over. Three days later I received an e-mail stating the package would be mailed out on Friday (three days after the e-mail). I waited a week and it never arrived. I e-mailed the...

This will bore you I'm sure...

Looking forward to seeing the new site, Gary. I think your current site is great too. I use PHP on my site's forums and photo galleries. I like PHP - It certainly makes administration a whole lot easier. Regards, Matt

Let's See Your Watches! The Vintage Watch Thread.

Ah watches...a subject near and dear to my heart. I moderate on a watch forum and I seem to have a weakness for timepieces - I think at current count I have 23 watches. My daily wear is my trusty Panny 196 And my Mido All Dial COSC Chrono gets a lot of wear as well Funny that...

    Bakelite Advice

Well, there are some fine scratches in the bakelite - hazy scratches. I was wondering if some type of mild polishing compound and a soft polishing wheel would buff those out and then perhaps something like a paste wax or beeswax buffed to a shine.

    Bakelite Advice

Hello all. I have recently decided to restore some old tube radios. For me, restoring and repairing the electrical components (tubes, capacitors, etc.) is the easy part. The hard part is restoring the bakelite. I am working on a 1946 Setchell Carlson 416 tube radio. I finished up...

Today's woman would throw it in his face....

I watched a program on the History Channel about the history of coffee - they said that instant coffee was hugely popular outside of the US and that in many places it is preferred over brewed coffee. My taste buds weep for these people.

Today's woman would throw it in his face....

That guy wasn't "old fashioned" - he was just a jerk. I would hope someone would throw coffee in his face if he treated them as such.

    Feeling like a fraud?

Why I hear that Feraud put the FeRAUD in vintage! ;) Sorry, couldn't resist. I don't own any of the vintage clothes that I want to own - suits from the 30's and 40's - maybe even some 20's stuff. But I am a 48R with a 7.5 long oval head and I have not found anything yet. I do have...
