Well, I didn't mean to buy a hat this morning, but I just HAD to check for Stetsons in my size. To my somewhat-trained eye it looks like an unworn specimen from the fifties. I hope so.
Stetson Open Road 3X Beaver, 7 1/2 Long Oval.

Cool. I'll be re-blocking myself. Lemme ponder it a bit. I wear a large 7 1/2 long oval. I figure this one would be a bit large for me, but workable.

I went on a little Esterbrook buying binge recently, trying to find exactly what I liked and didn't. Anyway, I ended up with an extra pen. Already restored and ready to write, this Esterbrook will serve you well. New bladder installed (not by me). The pen is very nice and clean. Not the shiniest...
Thanks in large part to this thread, I now own my first working Esterbrook. I stumbled across John's post here awhile back, and seeing the pens brought back a lot of memories. When I was a kid, my grandpa had a drawer-full of old fountain pens, many of them Esterbrooks. They always fascinated...
I try to break things down to either earthy tones (browns, greens, silverbelly, etc.) or grey tones (including blacks). That's about it. Sometimes it starts with the shirt. Sometimes the pants. Sometimes I just really want to wear a certain hat, and it goes from there.
I've gone so far now as...
Tell you what... I will, pending the result of an auction tonight. If I don't win those shoes, I will take a chance on these (assuming they're still available).
