I have had several good ones. The first one is 'spud' as my surname is Murphy, this is a name given to all Murphys rather than anything to do with me, but I do like it. I have also gotten nicknames from my first name and referances to Darren in Bewitched i.e. dagwood, derwood and others. The...
at present I am listening to The Waifs, a wonderful trio from Western Australia and for my trip into nostalgia, Slade. There is something about good ol foot stomping rock that is just working for me at the moment
Cheers
Not to be pickie or anything but if you are going to say Akubra, then you need to almost drop the 'a' and have the 'koo' sound more through the nose and the 'bra' is rather short, almost like a little breath. Its our English so we need to preserve it.....;) :)
a bit left of centre but still a good one....
2 men are drinking in a bar, after several hours they start talking to each other, after a few more they get on to more personal details.
The first man says “you know, I‘m a Sadist, I get pleasure out of inflicting pain on other people”...
I wonder if I heard you speak that you would have a non accent to me, bieng an Aussie, I should be able to pick you as a North American at least, that is if you are not a French Canadian....
...dont get me wrong, I love our Aussie girls the best, if you have ever had the experience of hearing 'getyagearofnletsshaginthebackofmeute' at a B&S Ball you will know what I mean....
I will float this one out there for you all, not sure if it has been done yet, but what is your favourite accent. Bieng an Aussie I know we have a distinctive one but I'm not too sure that ours is a favourite amonst most people. I love the sound of french, some english (geordie, south london)...
Here in Melbourne Aust we have a Comedy festival every year for about 2 weeks. This year my wife went to see Dave Hughes and we both went to see Wil Anderson, both Australian and very funny, The festival has comics from all over the world and is a huge drawcard for Melbourne. My Fav comic of...
I think its wonderful the devotion we all have to our hats, the inpression from all of the feedback is that we love owning and wearing our hats and sometimes as a result of this, some people may look into a more 'vintage' look than others. I tend to wear my hat when dressed in my work suit and...
Do we think that the wearing of hats in this day and age is a little ‘vintage’ and this is why the association with this style comes from. I agree that hats tend to suit most types of clothing, yet I can’t help but feel that we who wear hats are destined to be pigeon holed into a vintage...
Because I generally do not….. I just love these styles of hats and enjoy wearing them. I see a lot on this web site references to ‘Vintage’ and I am wondering if these things go hand in hand.
Will have a look tonight, I can see two or three on the trains. As I work in Melbourne City, I do see a few sights and several hats. Will post tomorrow with my result,
cheers
My name appears to have had a short burst of fame in the 50's and 60's and now looks like returning back to obscurity. Its a name I have never felt comfortable with and really think that it was one of those name that was groovy for a flash in the pan and now is still stuck in that time period...
WHAT A WEEKEND!!!!!!!
OMG, Ireland beating Pakistan, Bangladesh beating India and now the Pakistan coach found dead in his motel room. Who dares now say that cricket is boring.
btw, go Ireland for meeting the Aussies in the final. I think if that happened the whole of Australia would...
They are always good ones. It seems we have a rivalry like the one we have with NZ, although I think the lever leans more towards the 'hate' in the love hate relationship with SA. The world cup and SA hold one of my fav sledges in cricket. I think it was Herschelle Gibbs who dropped a catch...
