    What's For Breakfast...

This morning, like many others, a banana, some cheese, sour dough toast with Irish butter, and coffee. Perhaps a bit mundane, but tasty just the same.

    Income Tax Time Again

Yesterday, I spent three hours doing my Federal taxes. Every year, I use Turbo Tax to do my taxes. I save the results on my computer, but the following year, Turbo Tax can not find last years return in order to use the basic information contained within. I don't know why, but this is how it...

    Clean Jokes

Three guys, Stosh, Stan and Dooda go on a fishing trip. As they were trolling along the boat tipped over and Dooda never came up. Stosh and Stan argued over who was going to break the news to Dooda's wife. They decided it would be the both of them. When Dooda's wife answered the door, the two...

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

I used do all these things because I can. Self-taught, with then help from fellow construction folks along the way and now the internet, I'll tackle most jobs. That said, my wife won't let me on the roof anymore. A fall last year from a ladder and poor balance keep me from doing a lot of what...

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

With all the talk of TV sets and radio sets, I miss Radio Shack. You could always find small electronic parts to fix, repair or create solid state circuits.

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

Holy Cow! I remember going out to Sears and Roebuck to purchase our first television set in 1951. I was 7 at the time, and the set only picked up two of the three channels that were available at the time. We hooked up some rabbit ears antenna and the set got all three channels. It was a...

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

I think I hunted the stole with my bow & arrow. Belfastboy 59 HA! An easy hunt for a youngster. Were you successful? Always a poor marksman, I had help in qualifying for my marksman badge in the US Army. I passed with the help of some sharpshooters next to me on the firing line. But...

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

My Mom had a scarf type thing that was made of two or three stone martins, whatever they are (were). I think they're almost extinct now. Anyway, they had heads and paws as I remember. We didn't think anything was wrong with it at the time. It was just a piece of fashion for ladies.

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

As we all age, so do our friends, relatives, and, even our foes. Our niece, just 55, passed on yesterday. She had lived and lead a life(style) that did not include many healthy or safe choices, in my opinion. So, for the time was allowed, she enjoyed her life.

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

I have come to realize that my ability to read, and process what I am reading is fading. I used to thoroughly enjoy reading, getting lost in the scenes created by the author, creating my own pictures of the descriptions offered in the text, laughing, or perhaps just smiling at funny situations...
