Noob question, what is a snap brim
A snap brim is a brim that isn't specifically styled. It is stored "up" all the way around (curved gently upward, not flat), and to wear the brim down in front or back, it can be "snapped" down by hand. Then, you snap it back up when you put it away. A Non-Believer I don't like hat brushes. They are contradictory. Every place you can buy them on-line, the description says to use a soft bristled brush. But the actual hat brushes are stiff enough to scratch my own skin without much pressure. I already scratched one hat with a light...- Not-Bogart13

Low cost, soft felt grey fedora. Tips?
Define low cost Most decent fur felts in $100 range will have a nice smooth finish. My best luck has been with millerhats.com, whose name label hats are Biltmores. Check out the Manhattan. Welcome jay_b! I very rarely see a hat with a white ribbon, unless the hat is white (or nearly so). Raindog is dead-on about the fur felt. It's the best you'll get for the money.
