Which items of vintage clothing would you never wear? And why?

Hi Marco I have no clue what I'd look like in these, but the Earp family in the movie Tombstone are wearing frock coats most of the time, and they look great. I'm considering one for Winter. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108358/ Later

Abercrombie & Fitch ~ Savile Row protest London

I would join you except that our malls are reeking with that perfume that A&F squirts out every minute or so. I got a screaming headache last time I was in one (say two years ago). You can smell that stuff about 100 yards away. I couldn't work there, I'd die. Later

Which items of vintage clothing would you never wear? And why?

Hi To start this off, my wife thinks I look stupid in any hat. I don’t like boaters. I tried one on at Levine’s in Saint Louis last year and it didn’t look that bad, but was very stiff and didn’t feel good on my head. I don’t like the way that Homburgs, bowlers or derbies look on me...

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

Hi Lizzie I agree with you, but I was born in 1961. My son thinks that the 1980's are vintage, but then he's 25. I miss Woolworths. Later

    Show us your Guns!

Hi I'm guessing your LEO, and that's your qualifying score. What does 99.6 mean in terms of target this big at what range? Just curious, our locals (Wichita PD) run the gamut from "I can shoot a paper bag if the gun is in it", to "I shoot 50,000 rounds a year in practice for 3 gun nationals...

    Any Do's & Don'ts in military clothing?

Yes, V.C. and God help you if you mention that something might be a bad idea because the Nazi's did it. For example, the Nazi party controlled the German media, Joseph Goebbels, the Minister of Propaganda (not news, propaganda) said tell the big lie, tell it often, and it becomes the truth...

Aftershave : That nostalgic true masculine smell!

Hi I bought the Royall Mandarin, and like it. It smells like oranges, but it doesn't last as well as Aramis does. The Dominican Lime By Rum is good, but is also a little on the light side. I haven't found a balance between long lasting scent and an overwhelming scent. I purchased both...

    Florsheim Shoes

OMG, what is Duckie Brown? They're really branched out, they have wing tips (yea!!), Nubuck wing tips (ehhh), Old guy semi house shoes, and Duckie Browns. Glad my 20 year old pair still fit. I only wear them a few times a year now. later

Movies That Kill Off the Main Character

Usually, I would say I hate that whole concept, BUTTTTTTT they can do it with 2.5 men anytime they want to. Not a movie, so a little off topic. I had managed to keep Dallas forgotten for a long time too. Back in that time, I lived next door to a really nice looking girl who stayed home on...

    Any Do's & Don'ts in military clothing?

Hi Your comment made me wonder if the movie had made the actual Top Gun Graduates concerned that people would think they were playing Tom Cruise and quit wearing them. I work with several USAF pilots, and they wear A-2's with NO insignia except for their leather name tab. No LTC pins, no...

Restoring the finish on Utility furniture

Hi, unfortunately, I've only used it on new wood, not to refinish. You could try it on a less noticeable part of the furniture. Tung Oil, finish or otherwise, isn't that expensive. Later

Movies That Kill Off the Main Character

Hi I don't have any new examples of movies where the hero dies during the movie, especially at the end. I will note that killing the hero off at some point DOES have the attraction of driving a stake through the heart of the Endless Sequel. Rambo was good, Rambo II was pretty good, ... Not...

Restoring the finish on Utility furniture

Hi If you use tung oil finish that's part varnish it works well. I use that on Hiking Staffs for Eagle Scouts regularly. The pure tung oil dries stuff out, I didn't like how it made my double diamond 1911 grips look. Just my $0.02.

    Tornadoes!!!

Hi David The place I work got nailed, but we don't know how bad. I was in Alma Kansas for the State 4H match, and came home before awards went out. I get you on the news thing, but KFDI here in Kansas is known as Terror Radio because they put hordes of storm watchers out for everything. On...

    Western, anyone?

Hi Earlier this year I bought a nice (factory second I think) Resistol 20x Beaver in Silverbelly. When I bought it, it looked like this: I tried the John Wayne Cavalry type hat: But the crown wasn't high enough. I took it back to Brian and had him make it into a BOP: Front View...
